I have not played it but have driven past it a few times. The holes I see looked pretty good (for Grand Ridge).

Greens are supposed to be in good condition, fairways are same as they always were. They have been doing a lot of tree removal and work trying to get the fairways better.

I played yesterday. They are putting in serious work to the course. They’ve completed most of a legit drainage project and are now filling in low spots in the fairways with sand to allow for the new drainage. Also cutting down a bunch of trees to allow for grass to start growing. Overall the greens look great, there are a few that are works in progress. Also resodding and growing out tee boxes that will benefit from trees being removed.

Understand it’s still a work in progress but arguably for the first time in the courses history they’ve got a legitimate greens keeper and he knows what he’s doing. Leadership change over there has done a fantastic job turning the place around.

I grew up playing this course as my folks used to live on it. It’s where I learned to play golf so it will always have a special place in my heart.

So I’m supposed to feel bad for being excited that the course I grew up on is making an investment and coming back with quality?

I used to belong to old Willowdale in the 80’s and 90’s. They let it go to shite but current ownership is moving in the right direction.

You mean the one I never get invited to play in? I’d rather it at Cypress Lakes, better layout and fairways are nice.

Like earlier poster said... fairways were a little torn up because of the maintenance going on but the greens were in excellent shape!

Played it over a year ago. The greens were better. The tee boxes needed work.

If you played it any time in the last 5 years, you wouldn't say that...

It's an improving golf course that is headed in the right direction. With 200+ trees removed, it's not as tight and more grass is growing. SUBSTANTIAL work has been done to drain the course better. The greens are in great shape, pre-katrina nice.

I played Grand Ridge on 8/9/19.
It is in pretty good shape. Most of the greens are nice. They did have some ground under repair on the greens of holes
5, 9, and 10. But the greens are large enough to have the flag away from the GIR.

The fairways and drainage are better. They have removed a lot of trees and the is helping with grass growth. The was some areas being sodded on #2.

Hole ##14 had temporary tees. They are working on the pond in front of it.

The course isnt the best in the area, but it is fairly cheap and they are investing in the course to get it better.
