GOAT, and I hate the Dodgers. But I would watch Dodger games just to hear Scully's call, truly amazing.

I got to play golf with Don Newcombe once about 10 years ago. He still lived here in the L.A. area and played occasionally at Los Amigos Golf Course in Downey. The head pro there was a mutual friend. Anyway, I got invited to play with the head pro, Don Newcombe, and another guy who played briefly on the pro tour back in the 60's. They're all nice guys, but they gambled on every hole and nobody gave any putts away. They were making each other hole out one-footers. It was hilarious.

I have a 1957 Dodgers yearbook. Dad was a Brooklyn fan.

A true legend and a trailblazer.
One of Newcombe's biggest disappointments was when he entered that game in 1951 with a 4-1 lead. He allowed two runs. Ralph Branca replaced him and allowed the Shot Heard Around the World by Bobby Thompson.
But a great career and life nevertheless. A lot more good moments on the mound for Newcombe than bad ones.
