Unless he wants Comfort, power, better Towing, and ultimately better reliability when his emissions components begin a crap out.

Honda Rancher 420 4x4 foot shift with winch. Small enough and agile enough to go into most anywhere the smaller ones can but big enough with enough power to keep up with the big ones. I bought mine new in 2011 and it has been great. Up there would def say for sure get the foot shift as the ES is just that much more to break and the honda autos are garbage.

they are extremely tough. Last year going to the camp dad had his polaris 550 on the front of the trailer and mine was on the back. Receiver pin broke and the trailer detached(safety chains where hooked to the winch part of the hitch bc it was an extended deal so when pin sheared the whole thing came off) and the trailer sailed off a bluff about 20 ft down and centered a big white oak. My rancher ripped right through his polaris absolutely destroyed it. Got down there to it and his was mangled rear destroyed front end destroyed just a mess. Mine was upside down next to it and I flipped it over and drove it up the hill. only thing wrong was it bent the front bumper on the left side a little. Now I know that was more luck that anything but when the trailer hit the tree and my honda slammed forward into his the bigger polaris just crumpled bc most of it turned out to be pot aluminum while the honda is steel.
