Honestly I’m not saving money but I love not dealing with TV providers

streaming services are TV providers. the content is just delivered via a different manner.

in terms of cord cutting vs. traditional cable/satellite, i think it's a matter of where you live. If you're in a rural area with less options, the providers have a monopoly and jack up the rates, hence the people that were paying $200 and more for service; thus cord cutting becomes a viable option. If you're in a metro area, than there's going to be multiple options, and the competition between carriers will drive the price down. In los angeles, i pay $97/mo including tax for internet bundled with directv satellite service. Spectrum sends me ads for $100/mo packages all the time. ATT uverse and dish network is available in my area as well.

i previously looked into a streaming service, and the cost of a la carte internet was $60/mo, and i'd just wind up spending more money than if i bundled with directv.

I pay Suddenlink 70 a month for 400mbps unlimited. Firestick on all 5 TV's in the house . I use some questionable apps that I had to watch YouTube videos on how to even get on there. I can watch anything I ever want though including stuff still out in theaters. It's pretty awesome as long as the TV police don't kick in my door.

Don’t most subscriptions to streaming services only allow two logins? I always have millineals at work asking for my password.

I cut it right before football season and went with DirecTV Now. I have kids and we would always record the first half of the game to watch without the kids and fast forward through the commercial and halftime. I could not record the first part of a game and then start it when I was ready. The DVR aspect was horrible and despite the reps telling me it would be fine, it was not. I also have a boatload of Kids shows and movies recorded which are not available on Prime or Netflix so that makes it even more bearable.

I switched back to DirecTV and got it for $75 a month for the channels I need and got my internet lowered to $45 a month. Also got the nfl package for free the first year even though I had cancelled for less than a month. For $120 a month, I get all I need and more and it is easier for my whole family to use.

If they can make it easy for me to record games and my kid’s shows, I will do it but it didn’t work for me when I tried it.

This is the big question I continue to ponder, Is it worth it?

I only pay $45 for 60Mb DSL internet (I can't go with Comcast because they charge you per gig over their 1TB and my kids stream everything and play on Xbox Live).

I continue to call Dish every year to have my programming drop to $55ish. I am thinking about cutting the cable only to save maybe $15/month.

is it worth it???

No Sleep is the best I've had so far with immediate response and status updates. There are a couple others on here who use or did.

To Noonan - I'd suggest getting the Fire TV at least. It's got a faster response time than the stick.

One step at a time. I'm not in the market for a new tv at the moment, probably soon though. But I'd have to replace each tv that I own. I'd rather get a fire stick for my current tv's then replace as I go.
