Whole foods is best. There’s whey protein or casein protein if you’re on the run.

Whey protein and a fast-acting carbs post-workout is technically the best for building muscle. Whey digests very quickly and the carbs spike insulin, helping to shuttle the protein to your muscle. But really, just eat. If you're not a competitive bodybuilder then don't stress it. If you can't eat, drink a protein shake.

I think real, whole food is the best. I do a frozen banana, frozen small blueberries, PB2 powder, a couple egg whites, and some almond milk.

So goal is recovery? If so whole foods, no shakes. If you are still sore all the time, you can do a period workout drink with was/hbcd or even better something like mag10 by biotest or equivalent from true nutrition. But overall you need nothing.
