He doesn't seem to have the speed to be a feature back

Seems to be improving enough to be a solid 2 or 3rd down back.

This was all part of Coach O's plan to win a championship in 2019. If we'd signed Ettiene, we wouldn't be getting the 2 headed monster of Davis and Emery.

Trust the binder.

Why would it be too late if LSU offered him before Clemson? Wouldn't Clemson have slow played him as well. O became Coach in late September, when did he get his offer?

Does no one remember that travis was committed to Texas A&M? LSU didn't have a shot with him. He wanted to get away from Jennings, as far away from Jennings as possible. Clemson called him from the national title game while the confetti was coming down. Thats what sold this kid. Travis was going to commit to the last person to sway him which happened to be Clemson. Didn't hurt that he left graduation in a White Charger with blue and orange rims. His family flies to every game(no way they can afford it).

Can we please get past this? Yes, there were 2 more games that LSU should have won, but at the start of the season most of us would have been thrilled w 10 wins and #6 overall ranking at the end of the season.
Some great recruits coming in for 2019 with 6 final spots to fill w some big names out there. 2020 recruiting class is off to a phenomenal start!

People said the same about Emery and Chase, but we recruited those guys really really hard and got them to change their thinking.

It's all in the past now, but he was a big miss. And I'm not sitting here on my soapbox. I was wrong here too. I had no problem with the decision to go all in on Akers because I thought he was "special" and Etienne was just very good.

According to JV a "decision maker" did not like Etienne:

he is a very good role player, but not a feature back. There is a reason he was behind brossette, and it seems likely that he doesn’t find himself atop the depth chart again next year

Yes, I remember it well. I was so happy that we stuck on Greedy through all of the recruiting cycle because A&M got on him hot and heavy toward the end, I'm sure selling him on the fact that we were taking Fulton and Mullen.

And it's harder to bitch about not getting Mullen since we did end up with Saivion, Greedy and Fulton in that class. Greedy ended up being the best of the bunch.

Now, we did botch Etienne, no doubt about that. We should never prioritize a 50/50 OOS 5-star over a surefire instate 4-star. It always bites you in the arse.

He had offered him like 2 weeks before in late December a full month after O took over as full time HC.

Etienne clearly wasn’t Os #1 either and he isn’t great at backup plans.

O wanted him but was instructed to follow the set board. He wasn't named permanent hc yet. Higher ups told him to stick with the board. Vincent is quoted saying O came after him but his hands were tied.

CEH doesn't seem fast now but in HS people were claiming he was some kind of sprinter speed guy. Same as Etienne. We made a choice on 1 undersized back and CEH was it

It's all part of recruiting and every major program does the same. You slow play some and you push hard for the top guys on your board and hope for the best. If people only knew what went on behind the scenes in recruiting, they would understand better that no big-time recruit is yours until you get their signature and get it faxed back in. Money, jobs, cars, women and houses are just a small list of what is going on, so you know why getting that last visit is so important!
