PERSPECTIVE

I think it's fair to offer some perspective Butt.

Your analogy is certainly worth pondering, I'd offer another:

LSU's 2006 Final Four team started that season 8-5 including losses to a Houston team at home that was not as good as the one we just lost to on the road and also a home loss 54-50 to Northern Iowa and a neutral court loss to a Cincinnati team that ended the year 17-14,

So I think it's fair to offer some perspective and to speculate that the team we see now might improve as the season goes.

But I need to start seeing some improvement. I need to start seeing all these things Wade keeps emphasizing that need to get better actually start getting better and not continue or even seemingly worsen.

I need to see signs that coaching is affecting play on the court.

I was a fan of the WW hire and I still think he can in time return my early faith, and I'm willing to give him that time. But I'd love to start seeing my investment of that time to pay off in results. I'm disappointed and discouraged right now.

I would say this is pretty close to ooc must win. A decent win away from home St Mary's might not be a for sure tourney team but this team needs to get a big win for moral. Wrap up strong in the last 3 ooc and let's go in to the sec with some momentum

I really hope Tremont gets right soon cause he’s the one who makes us go. We also better be ready defensively tonight. They’ll be running their offense like a well-oiled machine.

Good analysis Have to solve rebounding or we will be below .500 in the SEC

Establishing some inside out consistency and using our athleticism on a break will improve shooting % IMo.

Defense can get better but it has improved.

We have gotten beat badly on the boards in our losses to good teams. You will not be above .500 in the SEC getting outrebounded by 10to 15 per game.

There is something the matter with Waters. Role. Playing to,showcase NBA skills something. When your PG has two assists and 6 turnovers. You are not going to win many competitive games

I agree with something Hunt Palmer said, if our biggest problem right now is Waters, we're going to be o.k. because I think he's going to come around.

The thing is that's not the only problem right now. We need to create an offensive identity outside one-on-one with a ball screen.

And we have to stop other teams from killing us on the offensive boards.

I'd also like to see more accountability for bad shot selection. I get that you can't make these kids who have above average individual athleticism and skills run Hoosiers sets and Princeton offenses but they have to show they can earn the right to have free reign before you give it to them completely.

There is no doubt that if LSU does not win this game, I will fear the season will be close to being lost. We have a lot to prove, and I hope it starts tonight.

Also, does anyone want to start an In-Game thread? I will be watching at a bar. CheerWine?

I think that 2014 team was a 7-seed and still made the Final Four.

I think Waters can come around too, but I don't really think the team needs him as much as some may think.

I also think the 3 guard lineup doesn't work with Waters needing the ball in his hands so much while the 2 other guards are playing so much better. Let Waters come off the bench in a "microwave" role bringing energy.

I shudder to think what will happen tonight if LSU plays as poorly as they did 2nd half of the UH game

Well Houston is twice as good as St. Mary’s, so it won’t be awful

True, Houston is a good team. The are tough and battle tested. They were a very good team last year and damn near beat Michigan in the second round. They returned a solid nucleus from that team. Having said that our second half was horrific in almost every way possible.

We were actually fortunate to still be in the game late as poorly as we played in that half.

No doubt great info brother, one of those games that I think LSU will come out angry and try and pull away early, now whether the baby tigers let them back in is another story
