Well, yes. If you remove the funny it is no longer funny.

You can’t take the irony away and ask if it is the same.

Sheeeesh.

You’re melting.

The comments in this thread are callous. It’s an Internet forum. We tell each other to kill ourselves, frick ourselves and generally be very unkind to ourselves. Trying to make that solely political is silly.

This is the face of pure evil:

There is no other word you can use to describe a man who murders his children and pregnant wife.

The amazing thing is that those geniuses didn't see evil in the fact that ISIS was throwing people off buildings, burning and drowning people alive, and raping and murdering thousands of women and children. No, instead they only wanted everyone to focus their own narcissistic agenda to spread their liberal utopia propaganda.

For myself, I will temporarily suspend my own beliefs to agree with thier liberal nonsense and see no evil in their murders.

I can almost guarantee you that if you had asked these two who was more dangerous, American Christians or ISIS, they would not have hesitated to tell you their fellow citizens were.

That mentally ill approach to life ultimately cost them.

Look, I'm under no illusions about how shitty Tajikistan is. But I do think this severe of an event was an outlier, even for the terrorism they have had there - which has been largely focused on government targets. I'm sure all sorts of hikers and bikers go through there and none have been killed like this before now.
It may be an outlier but the country is like 98% Muslim and violence would probably be much worse if it weren't for a somewhat totalitarian government that enforces religious pluralism or outright secularism. It's a great spot for rebellion by ISIS because the President has been heavy-handed against some Muslim traditions regarding head/body coverings and beards among other things.

The country borders Afganistan and ISIS has been targeting central Asia extensively for recruiting. While controlled by the Soviet Union, countries like Tajikistan were severely repressed religiously but since the fall, there's been a power struggle with more Muslim extremists/conservatives making a presence there and seeking an Islamic state.

Given that context, perhaps I was wrong to equate it with playing in the street, but I wouldn't want to travel there regardless of what happened to that couple because of the risk associated with growing Muslim extremism.

I think that couple was extremely foolish and was blinded to the risks associated with traveling through such countries because of their naive view of the human condition.

I don’t buy that. To justify it is also silly.

I’m real sure there’s a red line with the majority of posters on this board who wouldn’t accept the excuse you just gave in those scenarios.

Jay Austin and Lauren Geoghegan, both 29, last year quit their office jobs in Washington, DC, to embark on the journey. Austin, a vegan who worked for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Geoghegan, a vegetarian who worked in the Georgetown University admissions office, decided that they're were wasting their lives working.

quote:
“People, the narrative goes, are not to be trusted. People are bad. People are evil."
“I don’t buy it," he continued. "Evil is a make-believe concept we’ve invented to deal with the complexities of fellow humans holding values and beliefs and perspectives different than our own... By and large, humans are kind. Self-interested sometimes, myopic sometimes, but kind. Generous and wonderful and kind.”

However, Austin and Geoghegan's dream trip came to a tragic and gruesome end when they got to Tajikistan, a country with a known terrorist threat and in close proximity to a terrorist presence in northern Afghanistan. They were riding their bikes through the country on July 29 when a car rammed them, ??according to CBS News. Five men got out of the car and stabbed the couple to death along with two other cyclists, one from Switzerland and the other from the Netherlands.

I have wanted to stab vegan\vegetarians before too. They probably would not stop bitching at the little cafe about not having anything they could eat and it drove the waiters insane.

Same goes for glutten free assholes and cross fitters.

Progressive bubble dwellers are in almost every respect, kindergarteners with bank accounts. It’s not that they disregard the dangers of the world and their bad decisions, it’s that they haven’t yet understood that there are any dangers in the first place.
