Aw, man,I didn't know he died. Granted, I didn't actually know anything about him but he was one of my favorite secondary characters whenever he popped up. Hilarious.

Heroin got him
He was from Houston, I saw an interview with his sister on local tv that broke my heart

I didn’t know much about him before he died, but once he died I went back and read all of his tweets, watched some vines and listened to some podcasts that he was on. He was fricking hilarious.

Just started this myself. Only a few episodes in but it is great. Chris Pratt buck naked with two leg casts and crutches chasing his neighbor down the street was hilarious and of course Ron is the GOAT.

as it ages, it is slowly creeping up in my all time pantheon of great sitcoms, with the likes of Cheers, Taxi, Fraser, The Office and Seinfeld
It's incredibly funny, and has extreme rewatchability. We've gotten to the point to where we're not even doing a dedicated re-watch anymore. It just our default show to put on when we cant agree on something to watch. It plays in the background on loop if we're on the laptops or just looking for mindless comedy after a long day.
The characters are great, the same funny shite is still funny time and time again. Definitely in consideration for one of the most complete sitcoms in my generation.

absolutely agree on all counts
what is great also is the pace of the show without commercials is fantastic, they really move each episode along. There are some standout characters but they didnt fall for the cheap ploy of overusing a breakout character at the expense of the show.
for example, a character like Ron Swanson or Tom Haverford could easily derail the show if you use either them too much. I think they recognized Chris Pratt's abilities and expanded his character after the first season but other than that, the show's character development remained pretty steady. The show was always about Leslie Knope, from the beginning to the end.
Getting rid of Mark Brendanawicz and replacing him with Ben Wyatt was a brilliant move.

Man, I started it a while back on NF, and I enjoy it, but I don't see the greatness everybody talks about. I believe I somewhere in season five right now. I find myself having to make myself watch it at times. I don't particularly like Poehler, and her being the main character isone reason why I think. I don' really like Ansari either, but I do like most of the others. And Chris Pratt is pretty awesome in it.
I like it well enough I guess, I just found it pretty overrated on this board. I was expecting to LOVE it, and I just don't. I'll finish it eventually though, and it'll be chalked up as a "good show" in my memory. But I likely won't ever see it again outside of maybe here and there on syndication.

I know you will likely just watch the whole thing, but you can skip right from the finale of the second to last season to the series finale. Everything between that is beneath season 1 IMO.

I've probably watched the Harvest Festival arc a hundred times.
Harris was a great Pawnee citizen character, but there are so many great bit characters on the show: Jen Barkley, Sewage Joe, the tattoo artist, the guy who chants at every public forum (Ham and May-naise!), and I love Jon Benjamin as the exasperated lawyer when Andy was going to sue the town "Don't say 'situation'...it implies that was a situation."
