LSU had higher ranked offense in 2016 than UT.

To be fair, we did have a senior QB, Fournette, and Guice.

[quote]Gilbert to speak with LSUquote:This will be his 6th stop in 6 years. Will this be the rant and O's excuse next year? Does someone need to actually tell O what kind of offense will be run before they are in a game? Does he need to take some kind of personality test to determine whether O's ego can handle being less knowledgable?

You can bet your arse that whoever gets the job will have a coaching background and philosophy in step with CEO's. And it won't be a spread either.

Honestly, it doesn't matter who the guy is because if they don't start throwing the ball down field with regularity, and using these elite WR's like they were meant to be used you will have a angry fan base on your hands. LSU keeps bringing in Top 5 WR's in the whole got damn country, the latest being Terrace Marshall and keeps wasting their great talents. People are tired of seeing a run dominant offense, we know that they can run with anyone in the country, but what they can't do is pass the damn ball effectively, and the cat has been out of the bag on that for awhile now. Teams constantly dare them to beat them with the pass, and they always turn to the run, sometimes it works, but most times as of late it has failed. Things gotta change there at ole LSU!

Why is he any better? He's been at 4 different places in 4 years and only this year has he had any real success in a league not known for their defense (American).

His offenses have been in the top 20 nationally the last three years.

He was at Tulsa , then Texas and then USF....Tulsa and USF are in the American and it's not exactly a conference known for any type of stellar defensive play....same at Texas which had NO defense to speak of in a league where defense for the most part is something of an after thought.

Not saying I would have any problem if he would be OC, but I would be cautious in pinning my hopes for LSU on him.

Personally, I would like a good/great WR coach. Our WR's have left something to be desired ALL YEAR especially in terms of route running and finding seems in the zones.
