Me and the wife going to spend NYE there. We are staying at the Marquis Reforma on the Paseo de la Reforma.

We want to:

*see Frida Kahlo House
*drink mezcal
*eat good shite
*party

Is Teotihuacan worth it? Also want to go see those Aztec canals

Yes. It's quite impressive and a good way to spend a day.

Where you are staying is pretty centrally located and a good area. You can uber to polanco and condessa from there for about $7usd.

The hotel can arrange a car/driver to take you to teoithuacan and the canals for about $80usd for the day.

You need to make sure to stop at the Museo de antropologia, the Chapultepec Castle, and the Soumaya museum if possible. You are right next to two of them. The canals were a good time. Brush up on your Spanish, English was surprisingly hard to come by for us.

IIRC you are well traveled there. Have you ever been to Lardo or Mexsi Bocu in la Condesa? Thoughts?

Palacio de Bellas Artes is really cool
Walk through the post office which is near there, the architecture is very unique
Mercado de la Merced was completely bananas, check that out too

Teotihuacan definitely worth it. Make sure to drink some Pulque while you're in town. Most of the "famous" bars and restaurants like La Opera Bar will be full of gringos, but still cool. Depends on what you're looking for.

I ate at Pujol and Quintonil, both of which were great. Polanco and Condessa were great neighborhoods to walk around and enjoy. I really got a kick out of the Mexican wrestling. Teotihuacán is certainly worth a day.

Uber everywhere or get a driver so you don't have to try to communicate where you are going because not everyone will understand english. I got by with broken spanglish and a "speak and translate" app.

I've been to Mexico City several times and love it.

Have not been to Mexsi Bocu but heard good things. I usually go to Fonda Garufa in Condessa (get a table upstairs on the balcony).

Late night/24 hours hit up Sanborns. It's a Mexican diner and awesome drunk food.

I also recommend checking out the palacio de Bella's arts (national art museum). It's one of the best muesems I've been to. If you like freida callo, her husband, Diego riviera painted the huge murals on the inside.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Mexico City is awesome place. Not sure if this floats your boat, but the wife and I went to Lucha Libra event at Arena Mexico. One of the best and funniest things I've ever done.

Xochimilco was cool too.

I prefer to spend more time in Cuernavaca, south of Mexico City.

There aren't many ways to better spend a day than sipping cocktails in the garden at Las Mañanitas.

Yeah really entertaining. Reasonably priced too. I sat 2nd row ringside for like $27.
