We fished the south end, then went north, but the grass in the north was too bad with the wind and my little trolling motor was having trouble keeping up, so we rolled out pretty early. Only fished until about 9:45am. Couple of my buddies caught a couple on the duck blinds. And an older guy caught a few on a buzz bait.

FYI: the boat ramp is fine. I watched my buddy pick up his 18ft aluminum express (heavy arse boat) with his 2004 silverado 2wd with no problem.

You guys got any plans for around here this weekend?

I may hit up Lake Martin in the yak tomorrow morning. I'll be keeping an eye on the weather. But so far it looks like it'll be ok till about 11 am. Then the rain chances increase.

I'm thinking about going somewhere tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure where yet. I probably won't decide until this evening.

Could be a dumb question, but is Lake Martin open for public access? Pay to launch or combat launch? Worth the drive from BR?

I wanted to try to go to 2 o'clock this weekend, but with the weather uncertainty I'd rather stay somewhere close and easier to get in and out of.

Being as how I've still never been to 2 o'clock, it's probably best I don't go tomorrow.

It is on private land, but it's open to the public. No launch fee. Worth the drive from BR?? That depends on if you have a good day or bad day out there. Your chances of not catching good are much higher, but you just never know. And there are some big fish in there. So you never know when you could pull a 6-8 lber out. Right now it is in a drawdown. I'm not sure how the fishing has been since they started it.

I went last weekend and zeroed on bass. Although, I did have three blow ups on a top water frog in the duck weed, I just couldn't set the damn hook. Couple of my buddies caught a few, and another guy I saw out there caught a few on a buzz bait.

Glad to see this. Cause my first thought was "buzzbait first thing in the morning."

I'd suggest that as well. Or a hollow frog top water. Like I said, I could have caught a couple had I set the hook well.

I don't ever leave home without a frog. I'll be bringing frog rod, buzzbait/spinnerbait rod, jig rod, and Tx rig rod.

I could get double duty out of a couple of those rods if I have to try something else.

That's the max I will carry. I made a milk crate rod holder. I could probably do 6, but that's just too much.

I'm feeling like I'm gonna be going to Henderson in the morning. Haven't seen any reports, but I figured I'll go try my luck.

Pillage, if you go to Lake Martin, I had those three frog bites in the duckweed in the south. Also watched that other guy catch one right there. There was a good bit of action in that area, but I couldn't get deep into it because my trolling motor was having a little trouble. So I basically fished along the egde of the duckweed. My buddies caught two at the duck blinds.

I've thrown that exact bait and color till my arm has nearly fallen off in Henderson. Not recently, but over the last couple years. I've caught fish on it, but nowhere near like what you have.

That a chatter bait? I have a chatter bait that looks similar.
