I know this is borderline movie/tv but just put it on, Micheal Keaton, so far this is really good.

It's a great movie. It's a portrayal of one of the very first examples of successful capitalism in American history.

Great movie. Ray Kroc is a POS for screwing those brothers out of any kind of money. I guess that's business.

I thought the same thing at first but really, their vision was to keep it small. They never would have even dreamed they would make as much money as Kroc brought them. Even though they may have felt cheated, they came out way further ahead than they would have on their own.

Well, it's pretty common knowledge.

I think it is in the book Fast Food Nation where I read the story of the guy who sold McD's most of the very carefully developed potatoes for their fries. The guy started with nothing and built an enormous empire.

Fascinating story of how he would make a killing on a deal and then risk it all on the next one. He said that's what separated him from most folks; they would have quit after the first $25 million deal. He doubled down. Repeatedly.

*Spoilers*

Their desire to control even the most minute details of the daily operations led to their downfall. Kroc thought it could be big, but he was pretty desperate at that point, according to the movie anyway. The model they developed was the basis for all of Kroc's success but two men could, in no way, manage a nation-wide chain.

He screwed them out of money, no doubt, but their name would be unrecognizable, except in San Bernardino, if not for Kroc.

A very interesting movie. If movies like this one and Steve Jobs can be believed, business can be brutal.

I enjoyed it. Two things I didn't realize. He was 52 when he first met the McDonald brothers and he went to rehab for alcoholism when he was 77 years old. Cool movie. I enjoy Michael Keaton making a comeback as well.

Pretty sure there had been a lot of very successful US capitalists prior to the 1950s. Astor, Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Ford, Sears, come to mind.
