He continues to reference MLB Ump pay and I tell him that College Umps perform the role as secondary income. No way it is that much.

They make $300-$350/game depending on conference. They also get per diem and lodging. They get reimbursed for flights so they get the points on their cc.

Very helpful!!! Sounds like I win another one. For the record, if you knew my BIL you would be pulling for me in the argument.

It's more like $450-$550 per game for SEC umps with per diems added for travel, hotels and meals.

Do y'all think the Umps make more when chosen for CWS duty?

Major league ump starting salary is 120K, highest salary is 350K, that doesn't count the travel/meal per diems

I don't disagree that MLB umps make more

Yep. They get paid more for CWS.

They should if they are elite. But sometimes I question their selection process.

If $5k for CWS then they may do 5 games. So assume $1000 per game.

Flat fee no matter how many games they do, the Super Regional has the lowest pay since you might only do two games.

I believe they will have 16 or 17 games this year in Omaha, if they have 3 crews then your numbers would be close.

Max an ump can make in the NCAA post season in $9,296
During the regular season say he works 60 games at $500(13 weeks at 4.5 games a week including conference tourney) that's 30K.
So the top umpires would max out around 40K on NCAA baseball. Now they could also work non NCAA events (minor league umps can make $2500 per month)
