3 Taco Bell/KFC combo restaurants remodeled to become just Taco Bell's in my area in the past few months. No longer have any KFC's. Is KFC doing that poorly?

Ours dropped Long John's about a year ago. Hard to find a KFC around here anymore, even harder to find a Sonic.

All those are owned by the same company.

I drove by the taco bell closest to my house last night. It had huge dumpsters all over the parking lot and in the drive-thru lane. I haven't noticed it before but it could have been like that for a while.

This one is or was a taco bell / Long John Silvers. They are probably dropping the LJS - most everybody orders the bell and if you do order LJS food you have to pull forward and wait for 20 to 30 minutes.

KFC just doesn't catch in US like the rest of the world, probably because we have easier access to better fried chicken. But last I saw KFC globally is behind only McDonalds in number of locations worldwide.

KFC has been closing stores since 2011. They closed a bunch in 2016. They're rebranding and renovating what stores they have left, along with this new Colonel stuff

They have a lot of stores but their per unit volume can't touch a CFA or even Popeyes, who is experiencing 6-7 years of continuous growth after renovations and rebranding in its stores, and they will make a push under this new ownership to surpass KFC in number of units in the next 3 years or so, I'd guess. I think there is about a ~1000 unit difference right now.

B&G Foods if I'm not mistaken.

Not sure how much truth there is to this, but the said sales for KFC in the south sucks. There are too many options (I guess from Popeye's/Church's/Danny's/etc), and that's why they're focusing more on the taco bell side.

Taco Bell doing very well, and the combo stores are not as profitable as a single Taco Bell now. It costs a lot and reduces production when you're making two separate types of food in a tiny restaurant. KFC is also rebranding to more of an expensive fast food with specialty items, instead of competing directly and losing against Popeyes
