I was looking pretty hard at the NS 214 and 224 XTS, but am thinking it may be overkill for what I want to do.

I plan on fishing places like delacriox, golden meadow, lafitte, shell beach.. and Lake P (causeway) on calm days.

It will usually be myself + 1 or 2 other people fishing.

I don't care about going fast so riding slower in rougher weather is fine with me...

Is the 214/224 overkill for my usage, and would the 1910 suffice?

Would really appreciate hearing from owners!

The 1910 would be plenty fine for that.

Wife's cousin has the 1910 with a 150 Yamaha. Fishes out of Delacroix, Breton Sound, Grand Isle and bayous around Des Allemands. Boat is fine for all of those and rides well. I'd personally go for a little longer model and more HP but the 1910 is very versatile.

No matter what you want, there will be people here telling you to go bigger, get what you like, if it is your first boat, it will help you find out what you want on your next boat.

We got a 1910 a few years ago specifically to be able to get up in the marsh in Golden Meadow and the surrounding area.

It has been a great boat with no issues whatsoever. Rides well, tons of storage, and can comfortably fish 3 people. You can fish 4 I'd they all know what they're doing.

The 150 is a good fit for the 21, though not sure if it could also handle the new 3 cylinder Yammy 200. The 150 would be more than enough on the 19 and yea you could do a whole lot in those areas with that boat. Had 150 on our NS 2110 and it did well. Good luck out there

I had a friend that had an 18' Blue Wave years ago... We went all over in that boat in all kinds of weather. We did have to go slower that the larger boats... and it is not as comfortable as a 24' bay boat but it did get us where we needed to go.

@GEAUXT

Thanks. We will technically have four people in the boat, but one of them will be a 4 year old so he doesn't really count as a full fisherman for a few years yet :)

yea I am not too concerned with speed since my 4 year old will be out with me most times and speed doesn't really interest me too much in general..

I agree on more size is more comfortable, but this will be my first boat and I think 24 is too much for that

Not trying to convince you to go bigger, but our 214xts is very versatile. Fish in a 1-1/2ft of water in the marsh, or take it 10 miles out in the gulf. Performs well in both cases.

200hp yammy.

I've looked at the same boats you mention and am leaning toward the 21' because I live by Lake Borgne and Lake P.

My cousin fishes Delecroix almost every week in an 18' Blue Wave and does great.

A 19 will be fine if you fish protected water more than open water.

Thanks for the reply. I did look at the 21 as well. The largest body of water I woudl touch is Lake P and mostly to run from Bonnabel to the causeway.. would stick to calm days as well.

We have a 16 foot aluminum for the marsh and a 21 foot for outside and bays. fished 4 out of my 16 foot regularly with no problems, plus taking it off the beaches and whatnot. you'd be fine in a 19

I have a 2009 NS1910 w/ Yamaha 115. I fish inshore Grand Isle, Lafitte and its a GREAT boat. I'd prefer a 150 in it cause loaded down the 115 can struggle but I love my boat.

@Wilson

Glad to hear that. When you say struggle with 115, is that just top speed or running in general?

We went with the 115 on ours. It'll top out around 40. Fully loaded it will take a little bit to get up on plane. It just sips gas though, which is nice.

The price difference between the 19 and 21 was pretty damn close when we got ours. One nice thing about the 1910 is that if you get it stuck on an oyster reef way up in the marsh it's a heck of a lot easier to get off

Mostly getting out of the water. Once its on top its slows it down but runs fine. If I bought another 1910, I'd put a 150 on it.

If you plan on spending any measurable amount of time in Lake P, go bigger than 19'.

IMO the 1910 sounds fine for the uses you described. Also, if you decide to go out by yourself it will be much easier to deal with.
