Don't Fear the Reaper is not just about death, but about death by vampire.

I can't remember exactly what he said just that the gist of it was the guy didn't die but just left town.

I got this beat
Darius Ruckers "Alright" is about a Norman Bates situation. The woman is 100% dead. He killed her. And he just keeps repeating that its alright.

quote:
"Alright"
Alright, alright
Yeah, it's alright, alright
And I don't need five star reservations
I got spaghetti and a cheap bottle of wine
I don't need no concert in the city
I got a stereo and the 'Best Of Patsy Cline'
Ain't got no caviar, no Dom Perignon
But as far as I can see I got everything I want
'Cause I got a roof over my head
The woman I love layin' in my bed
And it's alright, alright
I got shoes under my feet
Forever in the eyes staring back at me
And it's alright, alright
Yeah, I got all I need
And it's alright by me
Maybe later on we'll walk down to the river
Lay on a blanket and stare up at the moon
It may not be no French Riviera
But it's all the same to me as long as I'm with you
May be a simple life but that's okay, yeah
If you ask me baby I think I got it made
'Cause I got a roof over my head
The woman I love layin' in my bed
And it's alright, alright
I got shoes under my feet
Forever in the eyes staring back at me
And it's alright, alright
Yeah, I got all I need
And it's alright by me
It's alright by me, yeah, yeah
When I lay down at night I thank the lord above
For giving me everything I ever could dream of
'Cause I got a roof over my head
The woman I love layin' in my bed
And it's alright, alright, alright, alright
I got shoes under my feet
Forever in the eyes staring back at me
And it's alright, alright, alright
Yeah, I got all I need, yeah, I got all I need
And it's alright by me, oh yeah
It's alright by me, yeah, yeah, yeah

Also my sister and I have always laughed at the notion that "Babys got her Blue Jeans On" is about a big ole fat girl.
quote:
"Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On"
Down on the corner
By the traffic light
Everybody's looking as she goes by
They turn their heads and they,
watch her 'till she's gone
Lord have Mercy
Baby's got her blue jeans on
Up by the bus stop
and across the street
Open up their windows,
to take a peek
And she goes walking
Rocking like a rolling stone
Heaven help us
Baby's got her blue jeans on
[Chorus:]
She can't help it if she's made that way
She's not to blame if they look her way
She ain't really trying to cause a scene
It just comes naturally, no the girl can't help it
Well up on Main street
By the taxi stand
There's a crowd of people and a traffic jam
She don't look back
She ain't doin' nothing wrong
Lord have Mercy
Baby's got her blue jeans on
[Chorus]
Down on the corner,
by the traffic light
Everybody's lookin' as she goes by
They turn their heads and they watch her 'til she's gone
Lord have Mercy, Baby's got her blue jeans on
Heaven help us, Baby's got her blue jeans on
Lord have Mercy, Baby's got her blue jeans on

It's certainly less than clear.

So wrong on many levels.... but here's a consolation prize.
Glen Campbell's "Galveston" was an anti-war song.

this thread is horribly dumb, but it did get me to go play amarillo by morning so not a total loss.
Basically this. Great song.
