So the tackles were on WR's that were his primary responsibility? There is still not enough info to make a decision here.
Saints staff watched film of multiple years. Watched his pro-day, brought him in for a workout..... I'll trust their opinion over yours.
Although there is reason to be apprehensive.

I just watched KV's senior highkight reel. Makes me even more excited. Kid will be a solid player for us.

WOW!!! A guy that lined up 15+ yards from the line of scrimmage and frequently played center field for the defense didn't make a ton of tackles around the LoS? Dude probably sucks cock!!!!!111
