Not a bad strategy. Sure in hindsight theres a rule against it, but at the moment it probably seems worth it and at the time youd think "who lnows maybe something like that couldve slipped through the NFL rulebooks"

Its not all that different than the Giants in the SB last year realizing, "Hey we can play with 12 guys on the field and even though the play wont count, it will drain the clock down anyway"

I had heard that story from Bama fans before but they never mentioned it happened in a bowl game.

I like how the dude tried to be all nonchalant and went to sit back on the bench

Yahoo article about this... LINK

Best part:

quote:

"Are we gonna win this?" Flacco asked Ravens head coach John Harbaugh from the sideline.

"Yeah -- the game's over if we cover this kick," Harbaugh responded.

Is Joe Flacco really so dumb he couldn't look up at the scoreboard and figure that out for himself?

Got damn I wish that idiot would have come off the sideline and hit Ginn. It would go down as the most retarded play in football history, like Jim Marshall running the ball the wrong way, except it would have been on the biggest stage. Pissed this didn't happen. What a dolt

What's awesome is the pft commenters who are able to determine that Flacco is not serious, but at the same time take Gregg Williams literally, even though it was clear that his players did not...

uh we are talking the NFL here correct???

that would NEVER happen unless it is written in blood in the rule book

and I highly doubt that they have a rule for it

They suspended Sean Payton for less.

That is almost scientifically proven.

Are people actually taking this seriously. My goodness people would be absolutely shocked to hear what really goes on in the locker rooms and on the sidelines. Believe me its not all "classy" and "gentlemanlike" as people would like to believe

It was the last play in the SB! He probably had all kinds of crazy shite going through his head.

Who cares?

I've told people if they want my coffee, I'll kill them. There's not exactly corpses littering my yard.

“I don’t know,” Flacco added. “I mean what else — what could they — I don’t know. I mean, they might be able to give him a touchdown on that, but I don’t know.”

“Hey, if he breaks it, if he busts this for some reason, tackle him. Go tackle him. I don’t know what the rule is on that, but . . . .”

Go home, Flacco.
You're drunk.

what's the NFL gonna do?

Refs can award the other team with a touchdown on plays like that.
