Crimes are crimes. We don't need thought police. Plus, this is inherently racist as they are only used to go after straight white people.

It's bad that you killed a guy because you wanted to rob him, but it's really bad that you killed him because of his race.
Never made sense to me.

Agree.
Criminalizing human emotion is ridiculous.

Hate crime = thought crime.
But hey, it makes people feel virtuous to support them. All that matters to a gigantic portion of the population.

If I get to a point where I am ready to murder someone, you better believe I hate them or was full of hatred at the time of the crime.
Hate crime laws create protected classes which is terrible.

"Hate" crimes are just a way to condition the population to accept the nebulous concept of "hate" speech... which, of course, we all know is just a way to eradicate the first amendment and conservative political opposition.

It is the most distilled-down First Amendment violation we have enacted today. How the USSC hasn’t completely shot these down across the board is beyond me, even with that weasel fink Roberts on the bench.
Eta: you have to wonder who’s the mentally challenged bot who is so programmed to be anti-free-speech that it would downvote every post in a thread such as this.
