The love for LSU has come to an end, most publications have our Transfer Portal rankings team that is ranked anywhere from 3 to 1. On3 has as team #20- the slobbering for subscriptions has ended. #20 is RIDICULOUS

You must not have read how they ranked the transfer classes. It literally says in the description at the top. Go read it.

Also. I think they did a poor job of ranking the players we did recieve.

Just in general it feels like lazy rankings. Seems like they just threw around 84-86 to guys like candy. And sprinkled in a few higher ranked guys for kicks.

They are revamping their portal rankings they said, they know it's broken for the players and their team rankings make no sense doing a net of transfers out vs. In

I trust our coaches evaluations more then any of these sites. Remember Burrow was a 3 star.

They’re in the process of revamping how they evaluate transfers per Shea Dixon so I’d say their rankings are admittedly off

No JB was a solid 4* QB out of High School. Not sure how these things take on a life of their own even when it’s complete BS!!

yeah I watch a lot of college football shows on YouTube like 365sports, Cover 3, On3, 247, Josh Pate, a couple SEC centric ones, etc, and when they say they are going to talk about the top 10 portal classes, I am confused when they don't mention LSU. This is when I realize they are using On3 and it's bad because of the idiotic, "out vs in" rankings.

Why would it matter who left when your rankings should be about who comes in? Are we going to start mixing in high school recruits that flipped from teams into their rankings as well?

I actually tend to think that it DOES make sense to do a "net" out-vs-in ranking. The problem, though, is that in order for the "net" ranking to remotely resemble reality (i.e. in order for it to actually reflect who gained/lost the most overall via the portal), you NEED better player rankings. This is especially the case for a major program like LSU--who is generally taking IN guys from lower-tier programs who outperformed their HS rankings and is sending OUT (mostly) guys who underperformed their HS rankings.

Basically, the only two guys LSU lost that hurt are Howard and Tolan. But guys like Sampah, webb, mcghee, davis, dumervil were all highly ranked as HS players. And conversely, the only guys LSU *gained* who were higly rated as HS prospects were aaron anderson and denver harris. So if your portal player rankings are lazy, you're going to basically wind up overrating LSU's outgoing class and underrating its incoming class.

TL;DR: It makes sense to do in/out net rankings, but in order for it to make sense, you HAVE to have good player rankings. Because major programs by definition are going to largely be bringing in guys who are better than their HS ratings and sending out guys who are worse than their HS ratings.
