Wool base layer and a beanie and socks. Stuff puffys or something like that in the bottom of the bag if if has a large footbox. Zip up fully, close all the baffles. Bag needs to be fully lofted and sealed off. Just your face out.

And don’t put your face in the bag. You’ll end up with moisture in there if you do that. Beanie is the key.

Be very intentional in your layering. You don't have to have the most expensive stuff out there to get it right, but Patagonia still makes the best base layers in my opinion. I have some getting towards 40 years old and still going strong.

We have been using these fishing all week and they are great. Can recharge your phone in a pinch as well.

back to the merino

I sleep in just my Sitka merino base on my legs, merino q-zip top sometimes with a vest when it's really cold

Layers. If I keep my core and feet warm I’m usually good to go. When I get to the stand I immediately change socks if my feet have sweated. If I’m in a shooting house I just take a little buddy heater with me. Especially if I have kids with me. Keeps the shooting house toasty and they are pretty cheap.

I try to keep my face the warmest because the rest of the body will react to the brain. Feet is close a second toasty toes stay in my locker plus I alway wear thermal socks over my regular socks.
