How do you cool your Pool?

I Have a gas pool heater so the heat pump/chiller option isnt an ideal situation, plus i live in North Texas and the pool company basically told me the chillers work much better in dryer climates. They said something about getting a fountain but i never really followed up with them. Anyone have any suggestions?

There's a few threads recently with the massive heat wave that we had. There's a few fountain devices that replace the eyeballs on your return jets. They are ~$20 on Amazon. I put one on, not sure it really did much.
The other option is trying to create some sort of shade. I hung a big sun sail triangle over part of the pool.

aerating the water overnight using your water features or one of those devices that RaginCajunz is talking about can drop it a few degrees. But it isn't going to turn that 95-degree pool back to 86 degrees.

I’ve also seen the pool coolers by Glacier. Not sure they’d be worth the investment. But apparently they work fairly well.
Mine got up to about 91F - we get full sun until about 2:30-3:00PM when the shade starts to cover part of the pool, then by 4:30 or so it’s almost full shade.

It's hard to say, since I only had it up a few days before we finally started cooling and getting rain.
During the day, it was at least very nice to have a big area of shade to escape to. It was well worth the $100 I paid for the shade and stainless hardware. (Its 24'x24'x 33.5')
It held up fine with the big winds we had ahead of a few of the storms we just had. The rain passes through without an issue as well.

I wouldn't mine adding one to provide some shade on my deck, really.

My brother has several of these spraying in his pool 24/7. I swear that water was 60 degrees last weekend. It kept it colder than I or the kids like, but we got used to it after a while.

Chillers don’t work $4000 better than water features and draw as much electricity as a 4 ton ac unit. Not a practical solution in south Louisiana

I have one of these on my waterfall outlet. I run it for 4 hours from 3am -7am and it brings water temp down 4-5 degrees. The key is running it at the coolest part of the day. I suggest this and the more you have the better.

Sunday our pool was perfect with that rain water cooling it off. Yesterday afternoon it started creeping up again.

In much of the world they use these sale shades, especially in SW Asia. Cheap and easy to install, a very strong wind or unusually high snow accumulation may wreck it, but just put up another.

I use a "sprinkler" that I run from the pool cleaner port. I turn the port "ON" and adjust the spray height as needed. Running it during the night is the only way to achieve good results-4-6 degree drop overnight. Typically goes down to 86 from 92.

Why would you say the pool chiller isn’t the best option? I live in south La and have a pool chiller.

No only for a few hours. And only on extremely sunny days. It’s actually not for me - the wife actually likes it. Yes I enjoy it, but it came with the house and pool when we purchased the pool.
I don’t know if I’d pay for one if it wasn’t already with the pool. I guess it’s a personal choice.
