re: My opinion of abortion pisses off folks on both sides. Am I the only one who believes this

Or take the “from conception” so both of your views are lukewarm and equally reprehensible.
For anyone who would select a date after “conception,” we really do fall back on the old joke… “We have already established what you are, now we’re just negotiating price.”

I'll be happy when we advance enough as a society to where we're all working much less
This is at the heart of the matter (work/worship of work)
We as a society are massively out of balance (how total workload to be a complete human is distributed)
Abortion and birth control have allowed women to work (external work, often for others) like men (a great victory in the eyes of some idealists). They can also frick like men (even though that strategy is counter to evolutionary game theory and “the science” some like to corrupt).
In doing so, the internal work that is provided by having a feminine figure anchoring the home is largely absent. This has contributed to generations of lost children (now lost adults) who continue to mimic the failed construct.
Many women (like men) later in life realize that success (in a worldly sense) is often at odds with being happy. Personally, I have witnessed many women climb the success ladder only to later realize it was propped up against the wrong wall, while being tormented about not being able to just be moms.
In this insane construct, some have made it acceptable to hormonally control broad swaths of young women (and most folks think very little of it). The same construct also justifies (and perpetuates) the justification of the killing of youths /future generations (effective on many levels).
The ends justify the means
The system just wants workers/consumers. “Equality” is maintained in the fact that all can be equally miserable/broken. The system is rewarded with multiple generations of broken people (who may want to identify with a feminine gender /disposition as a means of subconscious compensation).

Evil is increasing but the more abortions done slows the spread.
There's no way to prove that, but I will argue that abortion increases evil by devaluing human life.
Everyone knows that a pregnant woman is expecting a baby - a human that is developing inside her. Science.
By convincing millions that it is something other than a baby and that "ending the pregnancy" is OK, life is greatly cheapened.
Children are seen as a burden, not a gift. Babies are disposable, in some extreme views even post-birth. That is PURE evil.
Fostering evil gets you more evil, just as embracing thug culture has led to more thugs in the black community. No one will acknowledge that but it's true.

You’re 2nd position doesn’t have to be the case. If progressivism/Marxism is crushed in America then people will need to work if they’re able bodied.
Lots of people aren't born with the cognitive ability to function in a post industrial society. There aren't jobs that have economic value for everyone, many people are unemployable by their nature before nurture pounds them.

My stance is hypocritical as well.
I think life begins at conception, but I would NOT completely ban abortion.
If I were King of the Forest, abortion in the first Trimester would remain legal in all states but would only occur after much counseling and be done in such a way as to cause as little pain and discomfort to the baby as possible.
Absolutely ZERO abortions after the first Trimester.
If you know you are pregnant and haven't made up your mind by then, tough shite.
Not a perfect solution, but that's how I feel.

One is true.
Two is debatable.
If the government stops subsidizing dirtbag humans, their numbers won’t increase as fast.
Doesn’t mean abortion as much as not giving handouts to unwed mothers and so forth over what they would get if in a relationship.
If you subsidize something, you get more of it.
