Do y’all match utility shafts with the rest of your iron shafts or hybrid shafts (if you game a hybrid)?

Picked up a pair of Srixons and trying to figure out how the frick to hit them, but also the shafts.

TIA

Every club head is different. Why not get whatever shaft fits that club with your swing best?

I matched mine to match my set. I love it. I think that may be limiting it's capability though.

I hit my hybrid shaft well and I hit my irons well… trying to figure out which shafts to buy without paying for a fitting.

Yes sir. My longest iron is a 5i. I have the 4UDI. At current, its one of my favorite clubs.

I have a different shaft for my 3W, Hybrid and irons. If I remember right, though, I think the first shaft my fitter tried on my hybrid was my 3W shaft. I had never had a hybrid before so I asked why that was and he said because you play it like a wood. I'd guess matching the woods might be a good first option.

EDIT: I'm just assuming you'd be swinging your utility iron like a hybrid.

I didn't buy a 3 iron with my newest set. I stuck with the hybrid. Actually don't have a 5 wood anymore because I like the hybrid so much (and I have 52, 56, and 60). My driver and 3 wood have matching shafts, my irons and wedges have matching shafts. My hybrid has a random shaft in it, and I wasn't fitted for it, but man I love that club. Probably the best club in my bag right now.

My first UDI so still figuring out the swing for it. So far, a hybrid swing seems to yield bes results.

Didn’t know if hybrid shaft would b too light though…. So I came to you baws.

I play stiffshafts in all my clubs… accept hybrid. It’s a SR

Love that club.

Dang, that is pretty odd. Do you make a swing speed adjustment or does it just somehow fit your game? Either way, whatever works. For most of my golfing life, I've made just whatever is in my bag work, whether it was right for me or not. Except my last 3 wood, I'm not sure I ever hit it good.

Got a stupid deal on 2ndSwing. Never beem\n able to hit a hybrid consistently.
It’s a mizzy Fli-Hi 4hy with UST F2 shaft in it. It’s my 220 club.

I think the Graphite Design DI shafts are the best in utility irons with the MMT next in line.

I have the MMT 80 shaft in my Hybrid and it is super smooth.

I do neither. I have steel DG X7 in my irons and obviously graphite in my driver and 3 wood. My 3 iron is the only graphite shaft i have in an iron and it’s different than any shaft i have in my woods. I make sure i had the correct weighting progression going down my woods to my UDI.

I have the MMT shafts in my irons, wedges and hybrids now.

IMO, they are as stable as steel fiber but feel so much better.

Like others have said it depends on your swing and what you are hoping to accomplish with the club.

I have an xforged UI. I use a 90g Smoke black cut down an inch. The main reason for the club is to find fairways when my drive is off, so the shaft and club are set up to keep the ball low and spin less.
