The only convenient thing about it is it loads all our ADP info for us, so I don't have to enter it all.

Other than that, it still take an hour and a half.

Filing jointly, both W2, all in one state, no itemization, standard deduction every year.

And it still takes an hour and half answering all of their stupid little questions and all their kitchy little calculations graphics and the like. "Let's make sure we check this and that and this and that" when at the end of the day, it's always, always the standard deduction, and it will be this year too.

Is there a simpler online way?

Credit Karma, if your tax info is straightforward stuff, this is the way to go.

I switched to freetaxusa a few years ago because I was tired of all the nagging from turbotax. I like it much better. Heard good things about credit karma, but it looks like they are requiring you to download the app this year.

eta: I think I was able to import my turbotax info into it, adding to the convenience factor

If it's that simple just fill it out manually.

I've used TaxAct for the last two years and it's been a little more user friendly than turbotax.

There used to be a box in Turbo Tax that was basically like "want to skip all this bullshite and just do the standard deduction?" But it's been a long time since I've used it. Maybe it's different now. Most of the tax packages are pretty similar.
