My internet is remarkably bad sometimes. My upload will dip below 1mbps which makes it literally impossible to do any sort of video conferencing or gaming on my PC. It's affecting my work and my play at this point. I've gone through the ringer with customer support, but they swear it's not their fault. I've tried their modem, my modem, a new modem and everything in between. What the hell do I do? I have no other options for ISP at my address.

Have they come out and checked your connections? A few months back mine dropped down to 50mbps, had them come out, guy changed connectors outside and I was back up to 500mbps.

Request a technician to come out and check the lines. I work remotely from home so my connection is critical. I had three losses of Service this week and called Xfinity about it, along with only seeing about 20% of the mb/s I pay for. They got a guy out next day (today).

He said he had never seen intrference in the system like this. He found the outside line had about a 2 foot section that an animal had completely stripped the insulation from the coax. Just 2 feet of a bare copper wire. He was amazed I was getting any signal at all.

He replaced it and I'm now seeing the full 900mb/s on my hardwired workstation. I expect it will be stable.

I have cox gigablast, I think it isn't actually a full gig, I think it is suppose to be 900mbs. Ever since cox brought in the new line we have been getting great service that is never down. I just did a quick speed test on wifi and it was 400/18, I don't even care if I am suppose to get 900, 400/18 runs everything flawlessly.

As others said, schedule a tech. Agree that if the issue is in your house you’ll pay the costs…. But before you do that, do this if you haven’t already.

Check/replace ever connection and splitter you can in your house. If you have the ability to access the coax, consider running new coax and minimize/eliminate connectors. Once you do all this, call and have them send a reboot signal (I think it’s what they call it) and recheck speeds. Then schedule the tech.

When I first bought my house I kept finding bad extenders/splitters that were cheap and couldn’t handle the bandwidth. I ran a home run from the outside connector to my modem/router; then ran the necessary splits from a splitter near the modem (since upgraded to separate modem/ router w the necessary # of Ethernet ports). Was a PIA, but now the only issue I have is the squirrels love to chew the lines at the box on the pole. Zeta & Ida appear to have solved that by eliminating a lot of the trees near power lines
