With the text saying “is it too early to start recruiting” ironic after the other thread mentioning bringing back Hicks

Probably water under the bridge after all these years

Hicks is an animal.

If we sign hicks i don't think our d line would be stopped ever.

Real adults can get past prior disagreements. At this point in his career Hicks simply wants to win. Despite his own personal on field success in Chicago, he's grown tired of losing.

Saints would have to shed contracts to make it happen. Hicks' cap hit was $12-13M/year. Won't be cheap.

You do know that the cap is increasing this year by 27.5 Million? I guarantee Loomis has already worked his magic and has guys willing to renegotiate to save us even more in Cap space. Looking at you MT.

I think we are -64mil going into the draft.

Haven't looked into it yet but i believe the saints can easily get under.

Might not be able to sign guys like kwon or pj back.

Pj has played for 2 and 2.5 mil the last 2 years. He has earned a raise.

Werner is ready to take over for kwon especially with the cap being tight.

I'm ready to see what we do with arnstead. If we let him walk, may have to go tackle in 1st round.

Hicks? Real adult? He has not acted like an adult when talking about his time in NOLA and the front office. I would imagine he still holds a grudge. Besides, Jordan has a bad track record at recruiting players.

Hicks is getting up in age and has had injury concerns 2 out of the last 3 years. With some nice interior options on the market, he may be priced right. Bet he signs with a contender type too

We can get under the cap just by manipulating current contracts. It's Loomis' specialty - kick the can down the road. We don't need to cut anybody. Who we re-sign/extend and who we go after is another question. You almost definitely kick the tires on Rodgers and Wilson, then just make it work if either says yes.

I think they go tackle/WR first round. People keep saying QB but I think that gets addressed with FA or they ride with Jameis + better weapons/protection.

quote:

“I thought I was going to be a Saint for life,” Hicks told Dan Pompei of the Athletic. “I’m going to play here for 10 years and they are going to put my name on a banner in the stadium.”

quote:

Hicks sought out the leaders in the Saints locker room to show him how to be a professional. Linebacker Jonathan Vilma looks back on their time together fondly, admitting that they still talk frequently. He’s still puzzled by a position switch the Saints forced on Hicks ahead of his final season.

“In our defense at the time, they were trying to put him on an edge and be more of a speed rusher as opposed to using leverage and hands and power,” Vilma said. “That wasn’t really his thing. It was frustrating. I’m like, this is silly. I loved when he would bull rush. I would say, ‘Just do what you do best. We’ll figure it out with the coaches.'”

quote:

“I was asked for things I couldn’t deliver,” Hicks said. “When I stepped on the field, the weaknesses in my game showed, and they showed brightly. It wasn’t where I needed to be. By game three, it was clear I wasn’t supposed to be in that position.”

Frustrations grew and eventually boiled over, with Hicks and head coach Sean Payton arguing on the sidelines.

quote:

Hicks says that doesn’t have much ire for his Saints teammates, but he’s quick to take aim at his ex-position coach, Bill Johnson: “I had a certain amount of resentment towards him because I felt like if anybody should know my strengths and weaknesses, he should have known. So I was very hurt by the fact that I felt there was nobody in my corner who had my back.”

After the Bears playoff loss to the Saints last year.

quote:

"You got to respect your opponent. There's a reason why Drew Brees and Sean Payton have been doing their thing here in New Orleans for a long time. They played good ball today. Sean Payton coached a good game. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t come out of here today with a ‘W’, but I still have a strong belief in my team, my defense.”

“I guess it's just one of those things, part of the nature of the business. But Akiem has been my guy for four years. He's been like a brother to me. So I can only wish him the best,” Jordan said.
