Brian Kelly is exactly what LSU needs right now.

He's going to bring stability, respect, class, and success back to the football program. Say what you want, but the guy is a "no bullshite" winner.

As an aside, I have a feeling that kids are not going to exit the program as soon as they can like they have recently.

Or maybe Les and O told him about the tail he could pull and he said, "I gotta get down there as soon as possible."

I was melting, you can check my post history if you care to confirm it (I don’t recommend it)

After seeing the contract and sleeping on it I’m on board. He will bring stability to the program and the floor should look more like 10-2 than 8-4 even with SEC competition once he’s had a year or two to fix the mess Ed left behind.

Can’t wait to see how he improves this recruiting class

We have been on a diet of Halloween Candy for 10 years with these last coaches. Highest of the highs, lowest of the lows. Brian Kelly is about to come in and make us eat bran and spinach and we are going to hate it but I think eventually it will be good for us.

Yes after much thought I am starting to warm up. The era of me me me and the ability to recruit outstanding young men from around the country ( especially lineman from mid west) could change the culture here at LSU.

I think this deal was done behind the scenes back in October

Except against top 10 teams. Lets just continue to ignore that fact.

I think you may be right.

Do we REALLY know that Riley turned LSU down?

He had good recruiting classes at Notre Dame but statistically speaking he should be losing more than he wins to top 10 teams because of the talent differential

He was averaging somewhere in the ballpark of #13 for the back half of his Notre Dame campaign, he can bring that up to #5 or better at LSU. Let’s say for sake of argument he’s not good enough of an X’s and O’s guy to win a national championship; he will still at the very least have us in a Georgia situation right before this run they’re on, where we are nationally respected year in year out and pulling top classes. If that’s our downside for what could otherwise be a decade like the 90s with the wrong hire, I’ll take being the new Georgia every single time.

I heard it was a done deal with Riley, banquet set up and everything, and he bailed last minute. Riley is not cut out for the SEC. He was against Oklahoma leaving the big 12. He likes being a big fish in a small pond with an easy path to the playoff. That’s why he took the USC job. Much easier path in the PAC 12.

'Do we REALLY know that Riley turned LSU down?'
Riley ran away from the SEC.
Kelly ran into the fire.
That is the bottom line.

ha ha, that shite goes on at every college, to find a school where it's not going on at some level would be like spotting the mythical OT10

We all heard that Bianco was a done deal too. Woodward office has been air tight with his hires. Any “it’s a done deal” have all just been media hype probably brought on by agents trying to get more money out of ADs. Looking at it now I don’t think Riley was ever the guy.

Think he will interject some toughness and discipline we desperately need right now. Combine that with skill player talent in LA and this could be an awesome combination.

I do. I would rather have Kelly than Riley, but I feel pretty confident Riley did not want to come here. He’s young and will soak up the LA spotlight. Kelly is leaving his dream job to come here for one reason and one reason only, TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS!

If this was not last minute it wouldn’t have leaked like this on a Monday afternoon and lead to a scattered announcement. It would have been controlled and Kelly would have been in South Bend to talk with his players. I don’t really care, though. I am pumped.

Totally agree- we need someone like Kelly after the last two goobers! No more stupid gafs on or off the field, just total professionalism with the goal of winning!

Completely agree. Look at the best ever in college (Saban) and the best ever in the NFL (Bill B). Both are solid no BS guys. They produce stability and consistency. I’m not saying BK is on that level, but he operates in the same manner. I’ve seen people here worry about “the fit” BK will have in Louisiana. That’s the least of my concerns.
