Is Matt Campbell that emotional or he knows that he is leaving?

Probably both.

That's probably his first or second class that is leaving.

He’s definitely close to his players. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him that emotional, but he’s not emotionally distant from his players.

I think both. He's accomplished a lot with that class at Iowa State. But I also think he realizes it's time to move on if he wants to grow his career. He will be forever grateful to that team and the senior class. That's exactly the kind of culture you want to have for your program and I wish him the very best wherever he decides to go.

Campbell is gone for sure, it's just a matter of where.
