I usually park in lot D and never walk back toward tigerland along 30, but this week someone else drove so I parked down past Burbank. After the game walking to my truck from lot D I was embarrassed by the amount of trash that tailgates leave just piled up on the side of the road. I’m not talking in bags, just in general piles of trash like beer cans, cups, plates, and anything else you can think of. It’s a shame that people don’t have pride in their campus enough to clean up after themselves.

Also, I found the van stuck in the ditch between 30 and the railroad tracks amusing…

That is all.

This is the problem. Too many people relate tailgating to a mardi gras parade.

we pay taxes for a reason, and that's what prisoners are for.

I agree you should be mindful and not be sloppy, it's not that hard to throw your beer can away, or at least near a full garbage can.

it always gets cleaned up though, so i dont know why people bitch about it every year.

We were walking by the Tiger Mart (or whatever it is now) behind the band after the game back to our car ... that area was trashed. I commented on it to my husband and kids ... truly trashy. It's not that hard for people to pick up after themselves.

Many of these people don't go or did not go to LSU. Therefore they are not going to respect it as much as an LSU student or alumnus would.

Tragically, this problem would be so easy to fix. Every tailgater should bring enough empty trashbags to cover their event. That should be easy enough to calculate - just bring an entire roll or box of whatever you use at home - take the extras home, you're going to need them anyway.

If everything is simply, neatly put in bags, the university and city officials will need about a half a day to go around and collect all of that trash. As it is, the trash that is left on the ground has to be cleaned up by G-d blowing most of it off campus, and making it somebody else's problem, because it is literally impossible to get it all cleaned up, as it is now.

Sad, and completely avoidable by the people involved had they been raised correctly.....

It is what it is, many La folks are apathetic, aloof, and trashy. It is partly why La parties harder and has it's famed "culture" on the positive side of the ledger, but the aforementioned is a poor byproduct of it's negative. And our cities and streets bear this fact out.

Trips to Gainesville, Athens, Oxford, Auburn, Starksville,etc..confirm this. They aren't as much fun as Tigerfan, but clearly are more meticulous, impeccable, puritanical, in their ways and conscience.

If people would go to kegs it definately cut down on the trash. Its an education thing all around the state, people just dont care about litter.

When you get up in the morning it is all gone. It is kind of like Mardi Gras. After Katrina had the same reaction because we had to stay 'In a Tent' on campus (no rooms). There were workers out there all night long cleaning up. It was kind of cool. We did this for three home games and the workers would rather have the garbage left outside of the cans than in them. I don't know? Maybe they recycle or something. No worries.

I couldnt agree more. I own a Taxi Cab and went out around the stadium early Sunday morning, it looked like waste management in Livingston Parish! Have some pride fans!
