Any person who has followed Woodward aver the years knows he is not about to hire someone who is 29-45 in the SEC. I just do not believe Woodward would go this route. Stoops is just very very very average.

This hire will define Woodward’s tenure as the AD at LSU and you don’t do that by hiring a guy like Stoops. Woodward is not “Stoopid.”

Also if it was Stoops why not go ahead and announce it? Kentucky is not going to the playoffs.

If he hired BoB or stoops he wouldn't be having a good time in BR and I think he knows that.

I think the idea of stoops being the man needs a plan B pill

Pretty good for a basketball school without fertile recruiting grounds.

Much deeper into the alphabet - so deep that woody wood pecker barely even knows who mark Stoops is.

Yep, his agent simply trying to get more $ from Kentucky for himself and for his client.

Stoops is not a sexy hire but it would be a fundamentally sound hire. I’d grade it an A-.

Given the available information, I think it’s safe to say it’s Riley, however, the more time that passes only allows for him to back out. It ain’t over til it’s over

You are trying to convince yourself.

History is a good indicator. I don’t have to convince myself of anything.

Stoops’ agent is angling for a raise.

The downvotes are cracking me up. It is completely sound rationale to have a non-sexy but adequate backup in line when you’re chasing the names SW Is chasing. There are probably 2-3 of them. It would be negligent not to.

But people are so emotionally twisted up with this hire that they downvote anything that falls short of “OMG its LR we ridin’ baws!”

Come on, y’all.

Stoops isn’t even remotely close to a A hire here. His B10 style of program building and recruiting is fine at UK, but wouldn’t translate here or anywhere else in the conference except for maybe Mizzou. He’s either a square peg in a round hole or he’s starting over and building a new identity in a much bigger, bigger pressure job. Either way, there are still better options with higher ceilings out there than him.

If Stoops is smart, he learns a lesson from Dan Mullen and stays where his style of coaching and level of success are appreciated. If he does want to try and move up the ladder, it needs to be in the B10, not the SEC.

Yes, for Arkansas. They would excel with him!

You are what your record says you are. He’s not an A list hire.

Stoops is right where he needs to be.
Built his own program out of shadows of brothers.
Can retire at UK as most successful coach in program history then move into Asst to AD position when ready.
