This resounding statement of “you’re gonna love the hire and the deal has been done” makes me think it’s someone the entire LSU football community will agree on. That’s tough to do as you can see. My guess is that IF everyone loves the hire, it’s going to be someone that is not an up and comer, and that wants to change what their doing and mix up the college football world and sees the opportunity here at LSU. The big money comes along with a hire like that too. And no one would question it. There’s been no smoke around Sean Payton, but from afar (albeit really afar) maybe there’s a chance he’s looking at this as a new challenge and fresh chance to dominate in the coaching arena. Hell, he wouldn’t even have to move.

Someone insert the “so you’re saying there’s a chance….” gif

I still don’t understand why an NFL coach, who has had success at that level, would ever want to leave and go to a less secure and paid position in college.

Boosters can’t pay anywhere near the same as the NFL…

People can knight for Aranda or Riley, but everyone would be extremely happy if it’s either of them in reality. No one is stupid enough to melt over either, we don’t need Sean fricking Payton for everyone to agree that the hire is good

I’ve been waiting for SP to be mentioned here

FTR, I wouldn’t be upset, though.

Ok ok - my post is half jest and half Hail Mary long shot of a coach having a wild hair and has enough money in the bank to do something different. I think some of us are at the point in life that can understand wanting to unzip from your current job and going to do something different that you know you would be great at. Now imagine having the money to do it…. It’s definitely something most people can relate to but I’m not saying this is happening, I’m just saying that it would shake up the college football world in the biggest way possible.

Payton makes 14 million a year with the Saints. Second highest paid coach in the NFL behind Bill B.

Why would he even entertain moving to college ball?

I don't see much of a difference between CEO and CSP. Both have had some off the field personal issues and rode the championship coat tails of one-of-a-kind QBs. Payton's was just a longer coat tail.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t read anything you wrote. I read the title and that was enough to downvote.

If it was Sean Payton, I would mail my diploma back to LSU, and I'd burn all of my LSU memorabilia and merchandise.
