PMAC Facility Upgrades

They've already made their demands and are actively working with the AD and a consultation/design firm on plans. Supposedly, an announcement will be made within the next few months.

To branch off that is the idea to try to have a game in the Ag Center dead on the vine?

Basketball Upgrades

Whatever the outcome is a new arena or a renovated arena I believe everyone will be pleased with the outcome. I think within 2 season construction begins on the big bold great piece that CWW talked about before the season. 21-22, 22-23 are the two seasons I’m speaking of.

I've heard of that one too. Populous specializes in renovations. Bringing them in signals this is most likely a rebuild.

They don't sell out the PMAC for season tickets now, this year I think Wade said we got to 7k. That leaves about 6k seats to axe before us season ticket holders need to worry.

ETA: Forgot about students who have around a 2k allotment. Lets just go with 3500 to be safe.

They should build a raised facility that allows people to see the Mississippi River. A brand new facility at a different site would allow them to play on campus until the new facility is built. I would build it to have suites and restrict the capacity to 10,000.

Yeah, no matter what they do, I would still expect the total seating to be at least around 10,500-11,000 (current seating is just over 13,000; so I don't see them cutting out over 3,000 seats.

Plus, I would imagine some current season holders would convert their tickets to either club or suite level seats, which takes care of some of them; so there will be more than enough great seats for current holders to still get their choice.

The other thing that has to be considered on seating size is for gymnastics. In recent seasons, they were averaging over 11,000 attendance for home meets. If that continues, which I assume it would, I don't think they would want to scale seating numbers back so much that they are literally having to turn away fans/ticket sales for a sport that already loses money.

Appreciate the update and info/link on Legacy Arena. It is an interesting remodel as well; but I think I'm still a little more partial to the one Populous did for Georgia Tech. Looks a little cleaner, more modern, and nicer. Either way I'm excited to see what the future holds for the facility.

Another thought that I assume Populous is looking at in how they can expand the basketball practice facility to make a true ops facility, without impedeing on track and the gymnastics practice facility would be to remove the NE stairway entrance to the PMAC, and expand the basketball ops facility that direction to create offices, weight/training facilities, and whatever else is needed.

While I hate losing that entrance as it is the one I use all the time and closest to my parking area, it just makes the most sense. Plus if you are creating a nice huge pavilion entrance on the south side, then there isn't much need for multiple entrances around the entire facility.

I'm just hoping that Woody and them are smart and serious about really making it an upgraded fan experience. Would be great to see them strike deals with places like Walk On's or Pluckers or other similar type places to have dining options in the building. Then you can encourage people to get inside earlier, eat, hangout, etc. before tip-off. That might aid in improving the late arriving crowds we typically tend to have.
