If it's not Fickell or Riley, Woodward has to full court press Matt Rhule

He'll be the last slam dunk homerun hire out there for the taking. A guy that can build a championship program and would not have any desire to go anywhere for a long time.

Rhule is the best potential hire out there - I just don’t know if it’s realistic

seems super realistic to me. he's had 2 years at carolina and still nowhere at the qb position similar to saban. eff that, your stock is still high, go be the highest paid collegiate coach and build a championship program.

Rhule would be 1b to Riley. I don’t think he’s leaving just yet but i think he can be swayed. The nfl isn’t for everyone and he has struggled because he can’t find a qb. Sounds a bit familiar to a man named saban.

This post seems like wishful thinking. I do however think Rhule seems more of a college coach than NFL.

Roughly one week from announcing a hire, and you think Woodward is still trying to find a coach to take the job?

I will very surprised if it’s Mark Stoops.

And I would be queasy every time LSU played for his entire tenure. Seems to be a great human being, but I absolutely cannot stand his offense - no creativity whatsoever.

Stoops kinda fits with LSU tradition.

Not a splash, but a solid defensive minded coach.

Liam Coen was a Jake Peetz hire. But Stoops has at least been willing to try to fix the offense at Kentucky. It hasn't worked very well though. He would probably get calls from much better names at lsu, but it is a little puzzling that hes not been able to find a good OC. that was certainly not his brother's problem.

Meanwhile, I wonder how Aranda feels knowing he is Woodward's backup plan to Riley? The man isn't oblivious to it. He can hear; he can read. What the F is everybody's all American Woodward going to do when he realizes he ain't getting either one of them? Campbell? That would suck almost as much as Mark Stoops.

Regarding Stoops, was the offer made after the LSU vs. Kentucky game?

Stoops just came off the big win over Florida… Kentucky was looking like the SEC dark horse.

All the decision makers saw Stoops firsthand. Since then, “we got our man.”
