We have seen the Star Wars faithful rise up whenever a character in that world is screwed over or used in a way that they don’t like, when they booted this character off nobody cared or fought for her.
The reason people did not stand up and fight for her has nothing to do with her character or her place in Star Wars.

I think it’s a little unfair when it comes to things like Star Wars, projects like that are a very big collaborative effort with a lot of people involved.
A lot of people on this board support Bill Burr, the Mandalorian is Bill Burr’s work.
I haven’t heard anyone here actively not support him.

This goes back to who's yapping where. Twitter is virtually all leftists, for better or worse. It just is. Unfortunately, companies act like an "uproar" on Twitter is real life and will throw someone overboard because several thousand people in an echo chamber all write mean things on Twitter as if it reflects the actual world. Tons of people supported Carano, but they simply did not make the same dent. Plus, again, it's not s much that she was saying controversial things on social media, it was that she was saying things with which Disney as a company disagrees with. This same behavior from them can be seen at ABC, ESPN, etc. They cleanse opinions that do not align with "the message."
But this is really an aside from the OP which had more to do with people deciding to continue to watch things that featured people that openly disagree with their own socio-political views. That's really why I waded in, FWIW.

The character can just disappear and no one’s going to care. That’s the point I’m trying to make.

But when someone is not content to have a discussion and walk away saying, "Well, agree to disagree. You want a beer?" then we have a problem. We seem to be past the point of politely disagreeing on basic topics, and guys like Pascal who see everything in black and white terms are perfect examples of that. If you don't agree with him, you're a NAZI, white supremacist, racist, bigot, one of the many "phobes", etc.
It's not that it's just that, or that Pascal believes this way alone.
This is the movement. His ilk are so hellbent on change that they all believe and parrot this. They mobilize twitter armies to dox and intimidate. It's all part of the same system.

People are free to do as they please. If you agree with Pascal and like his work, then by all means continue to support his work. That tracks. If you disagree with him and you're fully aware of what he thinks of people who hold your beliefs and you STILL pay him because you like his work which enables him to continue to have a platform from which to hate you even harder, then I question your character or at least how dearly you hold those original beliefs you think he disagrees with. That does not track for me at all.
I'm speaking in general, obviously not about you here.
Exactly.
I have drastically trimmed back my support of Disney properties. haven't purchased Disney plus. Only watched Falcon and Winter Soldier (and did not finish_ because it was available somewhere else. Have only seen Black Widow in theaters. And still haven't seen the last two Pixar movies. And haven't watched anything Star Wars related since Rise, so no Mandolorian for me.
It's a slow crawl out of the Disney shadow, but honestly, I haven't missed it - and you can just see the things they do behind the scenes. Disney is the first company I'll make a big shift from. I'll work another next. It doesn't happen instantly though.

I get that. I'd assume a ton of the every day grunt work is performed by people that do not hold the progressive views espoused by the elite class of actors that are so loud mouthed about them. Such is life. Pascal's work is collaborative, and as such he should take care when he open's his pie hole since his words and actions could have consequences on innocent people. Instead, he bulldozes ahead anyway with no thought to what would happen to them if his words and actions turn people off. Again...why does he have no responsibility here, but viewers do?

I was a huge Bill Burr fan and listened to his podcast for years. Actually got to see him live right before things shut down back in January of 2020 in New Orleans. That said, Bill's act is just that. An act. He plays as much of a character as Larry the Cable Guy. He's not Archie Bunker. He's a lefty from Boston, who's married to a black woman with whom he has two kids. His take on race issues over the past 5+ years has gone off the deep end, and I actually stopped listening to him back last summer when he bluntly suggested that Trump was a racist and anyone who denied it was a racist too. This was him echoing Mia's talking points and I'd heard her enough on his podcast to recognize it. So, I had to bail. Again...I'm not going to pay someone to tell me they hate me. Presumably they will have an audience willing to do that.

Right...they can wrote her off. They can't recast.
I was arguing you could recast Mando.
But honestly, I don't care enough either way since I dumped my Disney+ subscription almost a year ago. I just have strong feelings about the idea of "why can't you keep your politics out of this and enjoy the show" talking points and that's why I got into this discussion.

Well yeah, that's why in an ideal world, we'd all just shut up and get along so we could all work together and support each other.
But that's not what the elites want is it?

This is the part that's hard to believe but very easy to understand the minute you let go of the reigns.
Tactical brought up Burr. Burr had a great older bit about letting go of his religious beliefs. Said he didn't fight about it...just let go and they drifted away. Likened it to that point in curling where the guy starts sliding and gets on his knee and then just let's go of the rock and he slides to a stop but the rock keep going. The bit is funny as shite.
That's basically what I did with a ton of this over the past 18 months. Hell, I did it with LSU Football...something I'd have never believed possible. But once you let go, you realize how insignificant the thing actually was and other things open up and fill that time.

Disney, most Television in general, trimming Streaming services, LSU and College football in general, the NFL, MLS... I'm cutting extraneous entertainment left and right.

I see it as a chance to watch all of the classic movies and tv shows that I haven't ever gotten around to. It'd be nice if a streaming service would come out that focuses on classic films and tv shows. Don't really care to have HBO Max...just to get a few movies from TCM.

Such is the world we live in though. We have a population of people who can look at an event with a lot of footage. An event that can go through our judicial system and get ruled on.
And no matter what see two completely different things. In the end it's unsustainable. This was a very objective thing, there's no clear subjective problem in the Rittenhouse case. Yet here we are.

That is the result of when you go from objective truth to "Her Truth".
"Her Truth" is that Kyle is a murderer, and no amount of facts will change that.

What a strange thread. I wish it hadn’t devolved into “you can disagree with his opinions”.
Let’s not be ambiguous, he memorialized a convicted child rapist and a woman beater. Its worth discussing whether that’s “the line” and what it means for crossing it
I wonder if any of the 5 boys he raped or their mothers watches The Mandalorian. Wouldn’t that suck to find out about this tweet

Wtf? Explain...or does it make you uneasy to know what kind of person he's mourning?
ETA: Imagine downvoting me and calling me a sick frick...but not the pedophile or the celebrity who is mourning his loss. You would think I was attacking Star Wars directly on this board or something...

Imo neither side has that much room to stand on. Its dumb af to chase someone with a gun like that their gonna point and shoot. But I think he was looking for exactly that to shoot some people.
