MS Green Jeans visit

Made my first sit of the year yesterday on my private lease in MS and at 4:15 I hear footsteps coming up the road followed by a whistle. Open the box door to see 2 MSDWF agents. Tells me he had been on the property the week prior and saw a pile of Mo-Buck on the ground. Walks over to where the pile allegedly was and there isn’t a speck of evidence, just a bare spot on ground. Says regardless of what’s no longer there, I violated the MS supplemental feeding law by pouring attractant directly onto the ground and not casting from a feeder. The pile had been put out 2 weeks before the season started, but didn’t matter because the rule applies year round for the health of the deer and turkey. Wanting to get back to finish the hunt, I accepted the ticket and he moved along. Got a chuckle to see the agent’s name on the ticket. None other than OB legend Green Jeans who harassed Diesel back in the day. Wanted to ask him if he was still with Whop-head Dolly ??

Should have asked him why he was on the property the week prior.
I know game wardens have a different play book than your typical law enforcement, but I would think he still needed a good reason to be on private property.

The FIRST thing MDWFP can do to better accomplish its goals and objectives is to beef up enforcement of the laws. Glad to hear of this.

You should have opened the door with your pants around your ankles

There is plenty of trespassing, over the limit dog hunters who will shoot at them for trying to enforce laws if they really wanted to do their jobs and catch an adrenaline rush

I'm assuming you were on public land?

You’re a lot more kind than me when it comes to green jeans on private property throwing out accusations. Especially if it’s just his word against yours like you said.

Why on earth would you admit this and take a ticket? Tell him to prove it was:
A) there in the first place; and
B) you put it there
It’s obvious he is being an a-hole by swinging down at 4:15, ruining your hunt that I assume you spend time and money to enjoy. He could just have easily waited by your truck.
Don’t let him push you around, make his arse do his job right - not lord over you like he alone is the law.

Same agent wrote my camp partner a ticket 3 years ago for a hunter’s orange violation. My buddy was driving in his golf cart with headlights on back to the camp after an evening hunt. He had thrown a jacket over what he was wearing for the ride back. His orange was under the jacket. Agent was waiting on the porch, in the dark. Writes him a ticket for not properly wearing his orange. It’s obvious this agent can make our lives miserable. Didn’t feel like escalating the situation yesterday evening fearing his harassment would get worse.

No way would I have accepted that ticket either. I can understand not wanting to be harassed, but that’s what is happening already. The guy obviously thinks of y’all as easy targets. If you don’t push back, he’ll continue to write tickets for petty shite he knows he can’t prove should y’all force him to prove it.

If he waited by the truck, how could he prove he was hunting that particular spot? Sounds to me like he caught him in the act of hunting a preciously baited area It’s hard to catch violators at the truck or boat ramp. In the field is where violations occur

Your use of the word bait implies I was hunting over a pile. That was not the case. It had been put out weeks earlier as an attractant with a camera so I could get an idea of the deer I had around that plot. When I hunted last night, there was not a speck left on the ground. I was honestly ignorant of the law as it is written. However, as stated by other posters, he had no evidence at the time he wrote the ticket nor could he prove it was me that had put it out.

I couldn’t give a shite baw. But it dosentt matter ifyou put it out to hunt over or to take pics of deer it’s still illegal. You did as much in your first post. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse You are admitting guilt here
