I live in DFW, but will be in the Jackson area/Flowood Sunday for our anniversary. What are the best restaurants I should look at?

MM Shapley’s, Lou’s Full Serve, The Manship are a good start. I’m sure there are some that I’m leaving off.
ETA: I somehow forgot my favorite, “Amerigo”
Sal n Phil’s is pretty good for seafood, but not anniversary quality.

Check out MeridianDog's posts in this thread
I've had this bookmarked for years.
He breaks it down by cuisine.

Manship
Table 100
Lou’s full serve
Walkers (good spot for anniversary, might need reservation). It’s in Fondren which is the kinda the nightlife area by the medical center.
Steakhouse’s include Shapley’s, Eli’s, Tico’s.
Just be somewhat careful going to any of the places in Jackson at night.
Edit: some of these may be closed on sundays

Excellent Italian food. ELITE tiramisu
Also a good ambiance for an anniversary dinner.

Walker’s is about a 10 min drive from Flowood, but worth it.

For an anniversary, check out Walker’s or Ely’s. Get an Uber if staying in Flowood. Don’t drink and drive there.

Tons of great restaurants in the Jackson metro. Unfortunately Sunday night limits your choices significantly
Char
Amerigo
Babalu
Saltine
Table 100
Aplos
They’re all good—just depends what you want. For something nicer with good steaks/wine I’d lean Char. Babalu and Saltine are going to be more fun but more casual. If you go to Babalu their burger is secretly the best in town. Saltine has raw oysters and a nice beer selection. Aplos is more of a counter service but I love their food.

For an anniversary, Koestler Prime. Nothing else is close.
Edit: shite, Koestler is closed on Sunday’s. Coater had good choices, Char and Table 100 are great.

The Beechwood IN in Vicksburgh is a good option to stop at on way back to DWF if you are driving.

The quality of restaurants in the Jackson metro area is pretty amazing given how shitty the city is.

I'm going home next week for Thanksgiving and can't wait to hit up some of my old favorites.

I spent a summer clerking at a law firm in Jackson, and this was my takeaway. Hibachi, Greek/Lebanese, and steakhouses, all places I love, and I feel like Jackson, per capita, had a bunch of these for a city its size. The Mayflower, so many places I forget about
