Listen, I would love Aranda as the 1b option if Riley falls through. But with the coaching data we have, you cannot stand in front of me with a straight face and say definitively that Dave would be a better HC.

I agree. There's a part of me that would put Aranda over Riley but if you look objectively Riley is the more proven commodity. Dave just hasn't had enough time to build his resume, unfortunately, but I think he will do great things wherever he ends up.

There is absolutely nothing to back that up except for your own personal feelings towards Aranda as a human being and as a DC.

Yea i agree with you. I'm willing to put Dave above everyone else because I truly believe he will be a solid HC coach one day (he kind of already is). But I can't put him above Riley. There just isn't anything to support it.

I would prefer a QB guru HC and never ever have to worry about QB or the offense. Not have to worry about installing a new offense when an OC leaves. I feel LSU can always attract elite defensive players.
I would rather Riley, because on his name alone I think recruiting would be insane.
I like Aranda though.

With that said if I was Woodward and Riley is still dicking around and you KNOW Aranda will say yes you should just move on from Riley and get Aranda while you can.

No reason why we can't negotiate with both simultaneously, especially if Riley hasn't committed. AD's negotiate simultaneously with multiple coaches all of the time.

That's true. If it was me and I have Riley fricking around and Aranda saying where do I sign I would go with Aranda. That's how close they are in my head but who knows what Woodward is thinking. He obviously knows more about these guys and their intent than we do.

Results aren’t always what determines who the better HC is. Aranda would be the better option though. How he runs things, and his mindset is completely different than most HC’s out there. If Lincoln Riley was as good of a coach as most think, he would and should have won a natty by now.

Dave's building a program that was depleted when he arrived. Riley was gifted a program running high on autopilot and hasn't matched or exceeded the heights of his predecessor. Only sustained it.

I believe that only one Coach in CFB can match Aranda’s intelligence, attention to detail, and complete vision of the overall game, and that is Saban. DA’s ceiling is much higher than Riley.

Riley gets my nod based on two things... 1- His recruiting 2- His QB development.
Aranda is my guy as Defense and overall football IQ.
I am happy with either.
