I have a trip in late January to France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. Starting to get very concerned. Have until beginning of January to make the call.
Really, really not easy.

I’m hoping this thread will help you make an informed decision. It’s clearly more of a hassle but you have to decide whether you wanna travel or not. I feel like it probably won’t be any worse than it is now so if you can put up with all the things you’ve been reading about then you will have a great time. Just keep reading the news. There are some indications that cases are starting to drop around this area. And I don’t feel like it’s any worse than it was this summer when things started to spike in the US. The difference is how the governments react to conditions and how people respond. No one likes restrictions, even here.

I’m going to Florence, Rome, Barcelona and London in the next few weeks. I’ll update you on Italy.

I accidentally responded this in the other Europe 2022 thread...
My wife and I booked flights to Paris last night to visit Dec 29 - Jan 5. A vaccine certificate/health pass (or Negative PCR/antigen Test within 24 hours) is required to visit most, if not all, museums, etc in France.
Reading online, it seems we apply now for the vaccine certificates at pharmacies in France. Can anyone confirm this is the case? We visited France back in September and applied for the passes on a French gov't website. Here's some instructions I found. Sounds pretty straightforward but wanted get some feedback: France Health Pass App Guide
This new process does sound a bit easier, as the online application in Sept took 2-3 weeks to get approved. We did not receive the passes until the last few days of the trip, and ended up presenting our CDC vaccine cards, which were widely accepted. I felt it was pretty laid back anywhere we visited.

IMO the hassle is well worth it (even though I haven't been) to have smaller crowds.
The only concern is planning a trip further out has a lot of unknowns. But if you can travel with closer to last minute flexibility I'd be all over it.
I'm hoping to go next winter, I hope everything is not completely open by then to be honest so that its not crazy busy. But that's ignorant thinking as I'm hoping by then we are well beyond Covid.

A sad and somber day visiting Auschwitz. I feel like everyone should have an opportunity to visit this place at least once in their lives. Over 1.1 million people were killed. The atrocities are unimaginable. I didn’t post a lot of pictures and scenes we saw but here are a few. Never forget.

Polish Restrictions
Not that noticeable. Seems like they are transitioning to it. Haven’t really seen much verifications in restaurants at all. If any here. Mask wearing upon entry by maybe 75%? Conductor hassled this group next to me on the train. Soon as he left they went full chin diaper.

Winter would be an appropriate time to see it. Thanks for pictures.

That is good to hear. We would be traveling with our two young kids, so part of our reticence stems from traveling with them.
My wife is concerned about the "Level 4" travel warnings, which to me are not a surprise.
I think my biggest concern would be if we got COVID while on the trip. My wife and I are vaccinated and boosted, so I think the chance is fairly minimal, but damn it would be terrible being locked in an Airbnb for 10 days.

I've got a 2 week trip in May to the Maldives, Netherlands and Greece. Not worried about the Maldives or Greece but if things aren't looking good in the Netherlands in a few months I'll start looking at rebooking that leg of the trip and head somewhere else.

Fully understand. Been in “Level 4” countries for over 2 weeks. Still alive. Getting tested Saturday to go home so we’ll see! Wouldn’t have traded the experience for the world despite all the concerns. Can’t say they aren’t real.

In London now going to Liverpool for 40ish hours. Has been easy and as said less crowded in the museums. Despite what some have said they don’t wear masks any more than Americans do

Safe travels and pay it forward with knowledge!
I felt like there was a tiering of countries (at least the ones we went to) in terms of COVID restrictions. Germany was fairly restrictive. Czechia was really only in Prague, and not as bad as Germany. In the country side much less so. Poland was variable and seemed less restrictive, particularly in Warsaw (rarely asked for vaccine card. Mask wearing was maybe 75%, but no one ever really asked). They asked for our antigen test results in Warsaw. After that, it was an attestation form coming back into the US (ain't got the 'vid on the form basically) and then just passports. Flight home from Amsterdam (KLM) was JAMMED PACKED. They definitely got on people if they didn't have a mask on. Wasn't fun for 21 hours total, but manageable. And we had a GREAT TIME!

Anyone have a casual dinner spot for dinner in London? I have the afternoon and evening there before heading to Italy.
