They do not want the trash and other problems some casinos bring to the area.
Some casinos want to be good neighbors.
Other casinos do not care.
In a few years the building abandon and it brings down property values in an area on the lake.
Voting against this solves the problem.

Casinos bring crime, drugs , democrats, and gang activity to where they are located.

Lafayette parish screwed up voting them down a long time ago, now there’s one just across the parish line on every highway. Lafayette parish residents are still gambling but with no revenue to the parish.
Also lost Evangeline downs because of it.

Just look at Shreveport after casinos came in. Higher crime and city hasnt benefitted much.

I seriously doubt St Tammany cares if anyone gambles or not. Anyone that lives on the Northshore that wants to go to “the casina” is making the drive to NOLA or the MS Coast anyway. The goal is to keep not just the casinos out, but also the check cashers, payday loans, shitty used car lots, and whatever other signs of desperation out. Let NOLA and Biloxi deal with that.

No local players or power brokers were greased.

Worked at a casino in a different life. The usuals weren't the rich people. The usuals were people coming in to spend the money that they're given every month by the government. Talk about pissed me off.

Sounds like libtards insisting on vaccine mandates. But I’ll bet you’re good with that.
