MAKING THE CASE

quote:

There's no doubt about it, Riley is one of the biggest names in the college football world and if he wanted to make the move from Oklahoma to LSU it would pay dividends on the recruiting trail and certainly shake things up in the SEC moving forward.

Riley has been a name that we (TigerDetails) have mentioned from the beginning as a potential candidate, even as one of our A-Listers and one that makes a lot of sense. Why, you ask?

Riley has proven everything he can possibly prove at OU other than winning the big one, and it seems like that may never happen with the way the Sooners continuously struggle on defense, plus it's going to get a whole lot harder to reach a conference title game or a national title once Oklahoma and Texas join the SEC. The road to the end will just be tougher. Also, the LSU brass have shown nothing but support and willingness to spend money to make the program one of the best in the country, from the recently renovated facilities and locker room to at one point making Dave Aranda the nation's highest paid assistant coach in America at $2.5 million a year as the defensive coordinator.

Why not take his resume and creative offense to a talent-laden state where the last three head coaches have all won titles? The LSU AD is known as "Hollywood" Woodward for a reason, and if he hired Riley it would be the
biggest splash possible.

Okay, I'll entertain Lincoln Riley, but before I entertain Lincoln Riley as the next head coach of LSU, I need for someone to explain to me what makes Lincoln Riley, who is totally unproven in the SEC and who has consistently had a piss poor defense every year of his head coaching career, worth the 12 million dollars a year or more it would cost LSU. When Lane Kiffin, who is already a proven head coach in the SEC and who is a better offensive coach relative to Lincoln Riley could be had by LSU for around half as much. What justifies the humongous difference in value between the two coaches?

Lane Kiffin is the better offensive coach relative to Lincoln Riley. Hence, what makes Lincoln Riley who would cost LSU over twice as much as it would cost LSU for Lane Kiffin, worth it, according to your unhinged and delusional mind? Go ahead and explain that one to me would you.

Lane Kiffin is a child.

He's also a mid-tier head coach.

Riley:
54-8 (87.1%)
4 Conference Championships (Big 12)
3 Playoff Appearances
Never had a team finish lower than 7th in the final rankings.

Kiffin:
73-41 (64.4%)
2 Conference Championships (CUSA)
0 Playoff Appearances
1 top 6 final ranking (2011 USC)

One of these is not like the other.

I prefer Riley as well, but a little context is needed: Riley was gifted a job at Oklahoma when they were on top. They had gone 11-2 in back-to-back years in Stoops' final two seasons and had gone to the Orange and Sugar Bowls.

He was able to step right in to a powerhouse program. Riley has actually just continued what Stoops was doing, and has gone: 12-2, 12-2, 12-2, 9-2 in his first four years.

Kiffin took over a bad Tennessee program coming off a 5-7 season and the firing of Fulmer.

He then coached at USC, who had been hit with major NCAA penalties and a G5 program, FAU.

It's not a fair comparison. I think there are a lot of coaches who could have stepped into Oklahoma at that time and done the same thing.

Based on years of observation.

Lane Kiffin's offenses at USC, Bama, Florida Atlantic, and now at Ole Miss have always been better relative to Lincoln Riley.

So what make Lincoln Riley, who is totally unproven in the SEC and who consistently has always had a piss poor defense for his entire head coaching career, worth more than double than Lane Kiffin?

Go head, explain that to me please.

Really? Lane Kiffin is a child. Okay how does a child lead Alabama's offense to a Natty in 2015? How does a child parlay a very successful head coaching run at Florida Atlantic into a much better gig at Ole Miss. Then how does a child take that basket case he took over in Oxford, MS and transform it in less than two years into an SEC West contender?

Go ahead child, please explain that to me.
