What else does Napier have to do to prove his coaching ability?

Not struggle against sun belt teams despite an apparently large talent advantage?

He definitely didn't go to the Ed O school of no halftime adjustments

What talent advantage? He’s playing with sunbelt talent against sunbelt talent

He’s apparently had far and away the best recruiting class in the sun belt for the last three years. I would hope he’s got a talent advantage if that’s the case.

I think what people mean is that he should be wiping the floor with his opponents in the Sunbelt, similar how Saban does at Bama, after all, Napier is known as the second coming of Saban on here.

Nah I think people are joking, or at least I hope so. Napier is not ready for the bright lights.

The scared money don’t make money thing is a cute slogan but looks idiotic when you can’t get a 4th down multiple times and end up with no points going into the locker room.

But you’re right he did make good adjustments

Well, he's coaching a sun belt team.

Look, I don't even really want Napier, but some of you act like he should put an SEC beat down on SunBelt teams with his SunBelt talent. What he has been able to do at ULL is nothing short of amazing. He absolutely has earned a huge step up in college football whenever he wants it. Will it be at LSU? I have no clue, but there is a chance he makes some school really really happy soon.

He’s either out-recruiting the rest of his conference or he isn’t. All I’ve seen is that he’s a great recruiter and has had the best class in the conference for 3 years straight. He should be able to handle Sun Belt teams of that’s the case. Maybe he’s just a poor to average game day coach? I don’t know.

What about when you:
> get a punt return for TD called back on some BS
> get a 3rd down TD run called back on some more BS
> triple down on your third RZone 4th & get the points you left on the board back
> get 3 sacks the following drive from your defense
> take the lead back from down 10 - 0 in the second half
> win the game & your 3rd straight division title

?

I mean, he is handling conference teams. Georgia State isn't a terrible team, they played ULL tough.

They played a weaker Texas St team and beat the crap out of them. They also beat the hell out of App St, which is one of the conferences best teams.

You are looking at one game in a vacuum and ignoring an incredible amount of facts that would point to him doing exactly what you say he should be (but seem to be claiming he isn't).

Let’s be honest, can the top recruiting class in the sunbelt be “far and away” better than everyone else? I would say no, someone has to be the top class and it just happens to be his. If those guys were superior to sunbelt talent, they wouldn’t be in the sunbelt.

id be ok with him now, but the issue many people have with him is that his success is limited to the sunbelt conference and that it is too far a jump to go from sunbelt to upper tier (traditionally anyway) SEC team.

He is a great recruiter, but at the end of the day, you aren’t getting mason smith to go to ULL. The talent gap will only be so big

My B. I did reply directly but sentiment is not as much directed @ you as the board in general...

Idk what you want

Dude basically just wins games. Was he supposed to have UL regularly taking down P5 schools at this point?

There’s an argument to be had, but the fact that he’s beating sun belt teams with his sun belt team isn’t it.
