I just do not understand the business model. There’s the cost of the building, insurance, taxes, WATER, soap, employees, maintenance, etc. It seems like an insane level of risk. Anyone have any idea what their profit margins are?

Also, if it rains every day for a week, you’ve got no revenue for a week.

I paid like $15 to drive through Benny's last Friday and it took like 3 minutes. I suspect their profit margin was pretty decent on that.

Do you think water costs a lot of money around here?

There's pretty big margin in it. Even the set alone old school quarter feed bay joints. All about volume and for the attended drive throughs who offer the 24 hour rain check it's a draw. People are lazy.

I think most recycle water and only pull in a small amount of fresh to top off.

I've seen financials for a popular car wash brand at the corporate level. They make a shite ton of money at that level. For this brand, they hold some stores and sell off some, if not most to individuals. Those folks make money, too, but they usually own more than one.

I live in the Houston area. Weather changes every day so it seems. One a pretty day, those self drive thru car washes are packed all day everyday.

Chemicals and soap are cheap. So is water.

Many of these places offer monthly subscriptions for as many car washes as you need for a fixed rate.

Generally speaking, they charge more than the cost of these things.

Cuz there are a ton of lazy people who don't wanna wash it themselves so they just pay to have it cleaned t a car wash.

Easiest question anyones asked in a while.

Yep. And we consumers have normalized a 25 dollar vacc, pre scrub, wash, dry and wheel dressing finish for 20 years. It's totally lucrative.
