So why is BOB not higher on people's list?

Took over Penn state that was decimated and went 15-9, (10-6 in conf) in 2 seasons at Penn state.

Took over the Texans and went

9-7
9-7
9-7
4-12
11-5
10-6
0-4

52-48

I understand he wasn't a good gm, but much of that was because of things out if his control but in the end who gives a shite if he was a good gm or not?

Was a dang good nfl coach, better than Saban, on par with carrols first round before he became gm and ruined everything.

Did wonders with hackenburg at psu and was National coach of the year after his first season with PSU. They had been decimated with sanctions after the Sandusky thing.

Won 4 division titles in his 1st 6 years in the nfl, finished 2nd one other time.

Only really got one full recruiting cycle under him at psu and was only allowed to take 15 ayers. Was able to get 1 five star, 3 four stars and the rest 3 stats to finish 4th int he conference. Recruiting would be his one unknown.

Just trying to understand how some are so against him? Has tons of experience at very very high level. One of the best OCs in the game today, elite qb coach and pretty damn successful NFL coach.

Is it just the GM bullshite?

Because he was a shitty coach in the shitty AFC before GM. Go look at the number of games win in Indy. Smith could at least keep his arse somewhat in line.

He is an egotistical PoS.

He has figured out how to frick up Bama’s offense. Look at how they’ve managed to struggle this season.

Nobody liked Saban in the nfl and nobody likes working with him. Luckily we aren't hiring an nfl coach but who gives a frick if people like him. He fricking wins.

I don't want someone people like, I want a fricking winner snd BoB is a winner.

Was he? He was above 500, won the division 4 times in 6 years and before it fell apart the last season had gone 11-5, 10-6

Showing your bias. No coach that can't coach has those stats period.

Bama isn't struggling because of offense dude. Snd mutiple people have said what they started doing with kiffkn and sark was because of BOB. He taught them how to do it.

Dude is a hell of a coach. Every great coach is egotistical. What makes him a POS?

His 8-4 and 7-5 seasons at Penn State make him a winner? His 0-4 playoff record in the NFL makes him a winner? Being 4 games over 500 as an NFL coach makes him a winner?

We have diff definitions of winner.

I don't want Bill O'Brien, but NFL players said the same shite about Saban at the Dolphins and it works fricking beautifully in college.

And now Bill has direct experience with Darth Saban so I'm sure he's picked up on a good bit.

For every "a-hole coach who still gets great results" Saban there's 10 "a-hole coach who is on his way to being fired again" Matt Canadas.

Well guess what, Bob was pretty damn successful hc.

So stop acting like he is some a-hole that nobody can get along with so he is a failure. He was a damn successful nfl coach and damn successful cfb coach

He did okay at Penn St considering the circumstances. Don’t know that I would consider what he did “damn successful” tho. But I can see where one can say he did an okay/good job holding things together. Either way, he wasn’t there long enough to really evaluate his potential as a college HC.

Well he did way better than most expected and it's why he was named national and big 10 coach of the year his first year there.

He got that as kind of a “feel good” honorary deal due to the circumstances. He most certainly wasn’t the best coach in the conference that year.

Anywho, regardless of how one feels he did at PennSt, definitely doesn’t feel like the right hire at LSU. Fans - IMO rightfully so - don’t want O’Brien.

I’m sure Mark Stoops will win SEC coach of the year this year in the SEC. does anyone think he’s the best coach, or even one of the 3 best coaches, in the SEC? Of course not.
