That was pretty brutal. He would not let up.

He probably asked "did you consult an ethics committee?" a dozen times, and Garland wouldn't answer. Then he asked Durbin if he knew.

Sounds like a continuation of what Jim Jordan did to him last week. Garland is a snake, but he's totally representative of this administration and the entire cabinet.

The truly sad part of that exchange -- there are millions of people in this country (and many on this board) that will ignore everything Garland did and how wrong it is for this country, all for the sake of not wanting to let Ted Cruz be right about anything.

They'd rather watch this nation burn than admit their side is wrong.

It was a good line of questioning by Cruz but he missed a great opportunity at the end. When Garland was refusing to answer yes or no to the question, did he consult with an ethics advisor, Garland opened the door for a bigger catastrophe.

Garland said "If I thought there was a conflict of interest I would have. That is not how ethics works and it was a really dumb response by Garland. If we left it up to the individual with the conflict of interest to determine if he had a conflict of interest there would be no need for an ethics advisor much less ethics laws.

To pass ethics the foundation is whether anyone else could consider your actions to be a conflict of interest, not whether you thought it was OK. This also goes right to the reason why Garland should recuse himself from any policies that his family has an interest in.

Cruz missed it by focusing to hard on yes or no.
