I don’t think Booger has room to criticize anyone’s job performance after flaming out on Monday night football.

He wasn’t wrong in what he said. Coach O changed after winning the National Championship. He wasn’t hungry and didn’t have that energy.

Booger is exactly right. Coach O is a textbook example of how not to handle success. It went straight to his head, and he lost focus.

That’s what separates Saban from all other coaches. He never loses the motivation or the drive from year to year. It’s unbelievable, and it’s one of the biggest reasons that he’s the GOAT.

he has tons of room to talk about how terrible O has been post 19. The fact you still defend O is hilarious. He’s trash and booger is exactly right. He could’ve mentioned the whores, terrible hires, not interviewing coordinators and throwing chairs at staffers over a hype video but he didn’t. Can’t wait to watch you trash the baseball basketball and future football coaches bc they aren’t O and Woodward hires.

O had great success off the the preparation and play calling on both sides of the ball by coaches other than himself

O could have focused all he wanted

When those guys left and everyone was looking at O for direction, he was looking back at the guys that were no longer here

Called the post Aranda defense the best he ever saw in his time here, and hired a guy with no experience calling plays at this level as his OC

What could go wrong?

With all due respect to Booger, I’m not sure this is right.

Plenty of coaches with bravado and ego do just fine. IMO, O’s failing was a philosophical one. The idea that you can bring in a guy who has little experience actually coaching either side of the ball to “oversea the program” and hire great assistants, analysts and admin to make sure everything runs at a high level is a myth.

O certainly has his character flaws, but the idea of the “CEO coach” is what failed here.

Booger is right, and the warning signs were everywhere (e.g. selfies in bed with some random woman, the mysterious divorce, etc.) and most of us wanted to ignore them because we love LSU and always want to only see the good.

We can win out every game left on the schedule and I still believe Ed needs to go. He simply is not up to the task of building and maintaining a program like LSU at an elite level.

O was always the same. What changed was Aranda and then soon Ensminger wasn’t around to make Orgeron look competent.

You don't see the ego and bravado involved with O thinking he will just pluck the next hot assistant every time? That, despite not interviewing potential assistant hires, it was just going to work out fine?

It’s really pretty measured criticism and he gives O full credit for the NC. I don’t have a problem with this.

I don’t think that was ego/bravado, I think that was incompetence.

But even if Ed was “focused” or “put his ego aside” or whatever, just imagine how improbable this is: To be successful, he needed both an outstanding OC and DC who can not only X&O at a high level, but develop player (because apparently O couldn’t do this either)…

People like that don’t stay for long. So he’d have to find guys like this darn near every year.

It’s just not happening, no matter how great someone thinks they are at evaluating other coaches. The HC has to be great at some of that to maintain success.
