I have always liked Ranger Bay boats but every time I see an older used one, this is prior to the stupid covid values, they are priced way higher than same or higher quality boats around the same age. So, I guess they hold their value well.

Pro: It's a boat.
Con: It's a Ranger.
by ANY other brand and save at least 10k on a better boat.

A ranger today is NOT the ranger of yesterday.....Bass Pro Shops owns ranger now and most, if not ALL brands BPS acquired have taken a definite step back in quality.

I will not own a White River Marine Group product. I'll by BPS on most stuff but not a boat.
Mass-produced boats scare me.

Damn, didn’t know so many people didn’t like Ranger. The ones I have crawled on seemed pretty damn well made.
Does anyone have any specific things or experiences to say they are not good boats or is this from the company now being owned by BPS.

deep draft, slow, over-priced.... you pay for the name and it's not the product it used to be.
Just not a fan in general.
I'm a Bass Cat guy. I prefer hand crafted quality and customer service. That said they really don't have a quality bay boat so I have no better recommendation here.

I appreciate the response but this still doesn’t really say anything. Yes, they are heavy and slow but we are talking about a bay boat not a bass boat. There are trade offs and benefits that go along with that such as riding well in rough water.
I don’t own one but I do admit to liking what I have seen from them while shopping. Currently running a Blue Wave. Is there some kind of specific quality in components or construction that another comparable boat has that is better.
I am not saying they are the best. But from what I have seen I would put them on the upper tier of quality in the mass produced bay boat category.

Friend of mine bought a 2018 year model Ranger Center Console (similar size) and the boat is flawless IMO. My boat is a 2005 model (Century), but I can't imagine another boat being any better put together than what I have seen on his Ranger. The craftmanship is top notch, the quality is great, and it's obvious they thought of everything you need in a CC/Bay Boat while out on the water fishing.

What's your plans for it?
And where do you plan to do that?

Building home on Diversion Canal. 2/3’s pleasure riding with friends, and 1/3 learning to fish spec’s and red’s.

That's an interesting situation.
I have the same. I live on the Amite, so a lot of riding, and a little fishing (very little as of lately).
I"ve got a BJ 256 that works well, but something with more upholstery is sometimes tempting. Then again, plenty of neighbors and friends have party barges and deck boats.
I've always liked Rangers, but I think I'd consider the advice of those above regarding the BPS buyout.
Good luck.

Hadn’t seen this Ranger model so thanks for post…seems the hybrid bayboats are a new thing and will be curious if they last (eg: Nautic Star 251 and Skeeter SX2550). Interesting that the give up the whole back fishing deck on the Ranger. All 3 look like great options. One of these is probably what I’ll get next, wife wants something more comfy.
