I’m actually ok with this. Stop the pretense of pulling people over for truly a victimless crime just in hopes of catching a bigger one.

They'll just pull people over for driving suspiciously or speeding. This is virtue signaling, nothing more.

I agree, but not for the reasons that are stated in the op. A buddy of mine from NC moved to Baton Rouge recently, and got a $155 ticket for not having an inspection sticker. Who is that officer protecting by giving out that ticket?

Yea, I mean, if the tags expired - go ahead and send the ticket with the click of a button or make the renewal cost go up roughly the cost of a ticket every 30-60 days late.

I don’t think the epidemic of police shooting people for a brake tag is significantly large… but I think it’s safe to say forcing less interactions is safer for both citizens and officers.

Yep.

Less contact the better. It can’t sit well with families to find out a loved one cop OR crook was killed over what started as a busted tail light. But some dumbass is on probation and somebody’s smoking a joint in the car so guns start blazing.
