Urban Meyer thread

I understand he has baggage, and I understand that he has moved around more than you'd like to see a head coach do so, but of all the realistic names being thrown around, he is the only surefire candidate that would get us back to 10-12 win seasons in year 1. He's also getting older and would more than likely enjoy being somewhere he can settle until retirement. That place definitely isn't with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Meyer is an outstanding college coach. Probably one of the best in our time. If Woodward is going to swing, I hope he swings for the fence. Meyer at LSU makes us a TOP 3 PROGRAM IMMEDIATELY.
Is it a long shot? Possibly. I don't have enough connections to know for sure, but not many thought Saban would leave the NFL either. He wasn't doing horribly in Miami.
At the very least, you make him say "no" for months.

Is Urban Myers a elite head coach?
Posted on 10/17/21 at 11:19 pm to Laman1978
No, I don’t want a coach having heart problems everytime things don’t go his way

You think we’d go after Urban after his recent scandal and after the fact that Ed was fired for off field behavior? Lol

The bottom line is winning. O didn't get fired for "off the field problems". That's bullshite. He got fired for LOSING. If we were 7-0 right now, nobody would give a rat's arse about him being a man whore.

When asked if 2019 makes the last 2 seasons worth it, everyone on this board says yes without hesitation. Even if Urban only lasted 3 years, we’d win a title and it would be worth it.

Yea, sure. At this point in his career, he wants to butt heads every year, on the field & in recruiting, with Saban. And said baggage includes in his last year at Fla. he had 31 players arrested, and not for smoking weed.

quote:Exactly! And I guarantee Meyer would leave the program in a better state than O will. LSU probably would only have to promote from within. It works for Ohio State.

quote:He's actually a good bit younger than Saban (12 yrs), and it's not like he can't beat him head to head. He's 2-2 head to head, if I recall correctly. I don't know where people get this "Meyer is afraid of Saban" garbage. That's just more of a reason for him to coach LSU. He could finally put that BS to rest.

I realize Saban is never going to retire, but he sure is getting up there.
Urban is like 12 years younger. Go get him Urban.

Exactly
